El Mirador Rooftop Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in El Paso

I would like to begin by expressing that my party and I have consistently chosen this establishment as our preferred venue for outings and social drinks. However, my recent experience during the Halloween weekend was, regrettably, far below the standard we have come to expect. Despite being a frequent patron, I encountered what can only be described as remarkably poor service from a bartender I had not previously seen at this bar.

On this particular occasion, we found ourselves waiting for an excessive period, upwards of 30 minutes, which in itself was unusual and disappointing. What exacerbated the situation was the apparent disregard shown by this particular staff member (Kimberly). It seemed as though we were deliberately overlooked, as the bartender served numerous customers who arrived well after us. Attempts to order were futile; our efforts to get the bartender's attention were blatantly ignored.

I am cognizant of the pressures that come with a busy bar, especially during festive periods such as Halloween. However, the level of inattention we experienced was unprecedented and not indicative of the usually commendable service we have received here in the past. This incident was so markedly out of the ordinary that I feel compelled to bring it to the attention of the management, with the hope that such an oversight is an isolated incident and not a recurring issue. Not so great first time experience here at the rooftop bar, overcharged my card. The place itself is very beautiful but once it becomes a nightclub that’s where service becomes so so. Waited at the bar for over 20 minutes, felt intentionally ignored by the bartender who was serving his friends first and other people who showed up after us first. I had to literally flag him down for service and I was still polite with him as it was busy so I was trying to be understanding. The drinks weren’t prepared well and we asked for basic shots as to hurry up and get to our friends after almost 30 minutes now at the bar. Paid about $50 for our drinks and I asked the bartender specifically to use the cash I gave him first and then cover the rest on my card. Next day realized they charged my card the full amount and must have kept the cash. Was impossible to speak to a manager or someone who could help me when I called the bar. Only the hotel front desk was helpful but only the manager could help me solve this issue but not once did I get ahold of anyone nor were my calls returned. I wanted to settle it first with the bar before involving my bank, but ultimately my bank ended up having to step in to get my money back. I wrote a review over a year ago because this place used to be so great but I do feel the need to update it. As a regular customer, I’ve seen this place go downhill. It used to be fun and always full and now it seems like very rarely does it have the business it used to. The music is terrible! They switch up the DJs every weekend and none of them seem to really create a fun atmosphere. You never know if the DJ that will be playing will be a good one so people end up leaving. I am unsure what crowd they are aiming for, but not having a stable DJ like the one they had before, or even just a few good, stable DJs seems like it’s really hurting the place. The DJ they used to have was great! I even feel bad for the bartenders because they are very nice and friendly and I think of how not having the place full of happy people dancing, is hurting their tips. The bartenders are the ones keeping the place going at this point. I also really liked that people would dress up to go there, young and older people, and now it’s gone so downhill that it’s normal to see people wearing flip flops, men wearing basketball shorts and I’ve even seen females wearing just a bikini bra and jeans.
