I was up in El Paso for a brief moment, hadn't seen a family member and kids in over 2 years. El Paso has so many choices to make it was a bit hard to decide where we could enjoy dinner together. My cousin recommended El Texano. I am very happy that she did. Although it was pretty late in the evening it was open and we were immediately welcomed in at our arrival. Our waiter was not only very courteous but patient while we all decided what we would choose for our meal and in the meantime he not only brought chips, green and red salsa, but also brought us each a cup of tortilla soup which was on the house for us to taste. Honestly I have never tried tortilla soup before, to my surprise it was my favorite item of the evening! It had a great taste and was absolutely satisfying. It wasn't long after he brought us our entrees. My little cousin and I ordered a small shrimp cocktails each. I'm pretty picky when it comes to shrimp I like my shrimp to be extremely clean. Not even one star does this place deserve. First I called in to place an order, the lady was rushing me to finish ordering and then I requested to have some chips and salsa. When i arrived to the place, the lady charged me while being on the phone and was very rude. Next thing I notice is the chips weren’t even in the bag. I didn’t care but I still wanted them, even if they had extra cost. When I get to my place, i open the boxes and the food smells like seafood. It was two enchiladas and milanesa. Even the lettuce tasted weird. I immediately knew that they were cross contaminating their food; using the spatula for seafood on meats and vice versa. If you’re expecting to get some quality mexican food DO NOT COME HERE. To make matters worse, I spoke to the owner of this restaurant Carlos, very mean and careless dude.
