Village Inn — Restaurant in El Paso

The waitress was nice but it took nearly an hour for our food to come out. We got offered drinks 3 times by other servers by the time the drinks finally came out. Then we waited what seemed like forever for our food. The food was okay, not bad but not all that great either. My boyfriend was disappointed with his portion of scrambled eggs. The biscuit and gravy could have been a lot better. The biscuit was flat and overdone and the sausage gravy was from a packet, no sausage in sight. Whataburger has a better biscuit with actual sausage in the sausage gravy. 90% of my breakfast was hash browns, the other 10% we're the eggs, bacon, and cinnamon apples, which btw tasted like a mix of applesauce with a few baked apple bits and cinnamon. It wasn't bad but you could definitely taste the distinctive tartness of applesauce. In reading some of these reviews it's clear to see that some customers were exaggerating. "I've been coming here for 20 years" and one bad experience and they claim they will never return again?? Another said they're frequent customers here and they've never had a good experience here. Then why are you still coming back? Now let me tell you my experience, The customer service and the food were very good. The food portions are very good as well. I've been here on two occasions and everything has been consistent. Last night I had the chicken with artichoke and rice and this dish was absolutely delicious. The next morning i had the bacon turkey avocado melt And it was very good and the amount of turkey in this sandwich was very generous. This location in my experience is one of hidden gems. We used to love going there. But last time we were there was disappointing. My husband's omelette was so tiny he took a picture where he put his pointer finger next to it n that's how long it wasn't very narrow. It was a size for a 20 year old child. My chicken fried steak was very small make a circle by puting your pointer finger n your thumb make a circle that's how tiny it was. They fill the plate with lots of hash browns. Might as well call it a hash brown plate. I used to love to go every weekend. The portion were a good size then they started getting a bit smaller n then it was finger size main course. I'm not gonna pay the prices they have for a hash brown plate. I wish they would go back to their original size portions. But I don't think so.
