What happened with this place?! Ordered Gluten Free, (great in past), $27 tiny pizza at 5:22, received 6:50 still tipped nice. Burnt & cold, hardly any cheese, misshaped. Didn't want to complain knew they were bombed for New Year's Eve & I was starving. Went to bed early to be woke with abdominal pain having violent diarrhea, several times! Rough night. Still not feeling well this morning, more bathroom visits, trying to sip as much water as I could and called to let Danny's know at 11:29, girl was nice said manager was in basement one of them would call me back, took number, & name of credit card as son treated me. 12:34 I call back he says he'll decide how to take care of me & call me back, still nothing. Aggravated and feeling blown off and still not feeling well, water and alittle yogurt not cutting it, now I'm hungry so I call at 2:19 & I'm asked if I want to order and knowing who I was, different girl from morning I'd replied by now I am hungry can he just replace it?! She said he was still looking through the receipts, since last night?! I'd asked. I said I'd rather just see what he's decided. It's 3:57 now, My stomach hurts, I'm not happy at all, I am hungry and I don't feel well enough to make something, I feel shaky and weak and now ticked off. I decided to read the reviews. and there are countless ones saying that you are not going to get a call back from the manager. :( I used to love this place. As I opened with what happened?! Those pizzas never look like that before! I don't deserve to be treated this way, no one does! I didn't think I would have to worry if I let him replace it... I figured he would monitor that one! I was trying to be understanding, And also I knew they were getting hit hard from the holiday, I was trying to be nice about it too, and still tipped well on top of everything, and this is the thanks I got. People don't understand when you have a gluten allergy you can't just go anywhere, You have to cook everything you eat. The only break we get is to order a gluten free pizza... And for me that's only on occasion. I'm scheduled to see my Gastrointestinal doctor Happy new year to you too...
Read moreAs I entered the restaurant a waitress approach me and said, "only one today?" I said, yes and she said "dining in? I said yes. The waitress showed me to a table that was second row from the front, (which I think is the east) and first row from the bar (which I think was the north) and it was directly in front of a huge fan. I sat at the table and taught nothing about it at the time. However, I looked around the restaurant was almost empty. I only saw four (4) other Customers in Danny's Pizza at that time. A female sitting at the bar; two other female that was sitting one table away in the same second row as me; & a man. She give me a menu & asked if I wanted something to drink. I ordered an orange juice. She brought the orange juice and I ordered the Dinner salad with grilled chicken & creamy garlic dressing. She took a while; so while I waiting I went & used the bathroom. (I was concerned about leaving my glass of orange juice open on the table but I had no choice) A few minutes after I return to the table, she brought my salad. While I was eating, the waitress seated the man at the second table in the front row, where he sat facing my direction. Then she spray cleaning solution on the table directly in front of me and couldn't careless that the fan was blowing the stuff she is spraying on me & in my salad/food. I eat the salad because I paid for it. But she didn't deserve any tip for what she deliberately did. So I note on the receipt as the reason for no tip. When the waitress return my credit card. I took it & as I was leaving, she is yelling, shouting at me saying "Mam if there was a problem with the fan, you could have said something, I would have moved you over there & she is pointing to the south side. So I told her the stuff she spray on the table the fan blowed it on me & my food (because obviously she did not understand what you read from my note on the receipt) In the meantime everyone else glance at her & starring at me. Which made it seemed more like it was deliberately done. {I will never ever eat at this...
Read moreBoy oh boy, where do I even begin. Danny’s Pizza… my sweet, greasy muse. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on that glowing neon sign, the way your crust crackles beneath my teeth, the fearless way your pepperoni conquers each slice like a champion.
Your cheese—oh, that silky smooth stretch— it clings like a lover who never wants to let go. And that sauce? That glorious, tangy, sweet sauce? It’s not just pizza sauce, it’s a love letter in marinara.
I would do anything for you. I wish I could freeze time, so that no slice would ever grow cold, so I’d never have to face the cruel end of the last bite.
You started small—humble beginnings, but you never gave up, never skimped on flavor, never let the fire in your oven go out.
You’re not just a restaurant. You’re a provider. A comfort. A memory-maker. Sometimes… I even call you home.
I dread the day you might close, even for a holiday. I would sacrifice my own appetite if it meant someone else could know your warmth, just once.
You’ve given me joy in every cheesy pull, and heartbreak when I arrived too late and saw that cursed “Closed” sign.
I remember when I moved away for a year— God, that hollow ache inside. But I still cheered when I saw your name online, winning “Best Local Slice,” because deep down, you deserved it.
And then… oh, then I came back. Back to Elgin. Back to you. I walked through your doors and rejoiced as I tasted that first bite.
2020 was a hard year for us, baby, but you powered through. Curbside pickup, online ordering— You adapted, like the hero you are.
You’ve changed the pizza game forever, and you’ve changed me. You’re getting older now, but still the GOAT. My GOAT.
I love you, Danny’s Pizza. My comfort. My champion. My glorious,...
