I would have gave five stars if the nice gentleman behind the bar was our waiter. I recently moved to Elizabeth City, from California..This was my fourth time, at The Mill. I normally do carry out, but today I dine in. Because my son drove 2 hours to get to Elizabeth City so we could celebrate his (retirement 20yrs, Marine🇺🇸.) Our waitress was (the girl with the bleach blonde hair part down the middle, stopping at her neck.) This waitress was so rude and ignorant, she never gave us her name, never said hello and never smiled. The whole time she's looking at us, as if she was mad, and rolling her eyes. (I should have followed my intuition and left. Because I spoke to her twice and she did not speak back. But it was a Sunday, and most downtown restaurants was close.) Our waitress only asked us, "what do you want to eat and drink." Even when we was trying to have small humorous chit- chat with her, she looked at us with such disdain. We were the only Black people in the restaurant at the time. This waitress made sure we felt very uncomfortable throughout our brunch. When it was time for us to get our bill my son had to raise his hand!. The nice gentleman behind the bar came and brought us the bill. Our waitress never came to pick it up, so my son got up to take it to her. The gentleman behind the bar took it from him, and gave it to our waitress. We still gave her a very good tip$, but our waitress had the audacity to not say Thank You or Goodbye . My question is how many other Black people have she did this to and got away with it, in your establishment. Needless to say, I nor my family will NOT...

I was audibly surprised when I tasted the shrimp, because it was real, southern-style shrimp! I got the seafood crepe and it was delicious. The decor is beautiful as well, and the place has a very profound elegance. The menu is very diverse, and there are vegan options as well as gluten-free options. I saw another review mentioning portion sizes, and that must be only referring to the "Tappas", because the portions for what everyone in my group got seemed reasonable, so long as you enjoy salad, or french fries if you get something off of the sandwich menu. Though I didn't ask if there was any substitutions for the salad, which there might have been. Kelsey, our waitress, was very nice and patient with my group (it was our first time so we didn't really know what everything was). I am not old enough to drink, but I saw a variety of wines on the menu, which I'm sure many other people will appreciate. I hope to eat there again soon, and maybe try some of...

When I crave a good burger this is the kind of burger I’m thinking of hands down. My husband and I got the Nutty burger and the sweet and spicy with chicken not a patty since that was an option. The burger was great, not sure if I tasted peanut butter on it and I’ve had a peanut butter burger before so I’m wondering if it was even on there. They have a house sauce on it that is strong too so maybe that’s why? But it was still a great burger!

The chicken sandwich was also pretty good and the spice paired with the sweetness of the pineapple was really delicious. I’d say the burger was more of a favorite. Id definitely go back and try them again!

P.S. if their online ordering isn’t working it’s because they can turn it on or off and in my case they just forgot to turn it on so it never hurts to ask! I was trying to use a 20% for signing up for promos and needed to use online ordering. Super nice and...

What a fantastic place! Gorgeous decor and lovely atmosphere. I have gluten intolerance and they were very knowledgeable and thorough with my gluten-free order (delicious bun). My mom, sister and I each ordered a burger and they nailed the temperatures for my well done, my mom’s medium-rare, and sister’s medium-well. To finish it out, this magical peach cobbler blew my mind…I want to say it’s fresh made, because we wanted to order two but they didn’t quite have enough to fill two bowls, so we got a big heaping bowl…which we licked clean. (Though I didn’t actually ask if it’s fresh made). This place may be worth another trip up from South Florida, so I can eat there again. Thanks guys!

UPDATE!!! Be aware that this place is no longer the amazing Mills Bistro, it's a burger joint under new owners. Very disappointed 😞 went to celebrate a special occasion and was looking forward to fine dining but instead got a menu of nothing but burgers. called ahead to check on the wait, and they held a table for us. It is a small place, so I recommend calling ahead. I had the rainbow trout, which was wonderful! I grew up on the West Coast, and I love rainbow trout, which is hard to get out here, but now I know where to get it. Staff is friendly, and the owner came around to check on customers. It's definitely a repeat!

Cozy atmosphere. Fresh hot wedge fries. On point Moscow mule, blackberry mule and bloody Mary. Bar seats 6 ppl. About 8 regular tables. Proper spot. Bartender attentive and friendly. Average patrons be some down to earth people. My read on the place is solid. My burger, 'Vermontish', was on point. Go round lunchtime. You want some premium homemade food an drink, this is a solid spot. Again, I sat at the bar. Service seem to be good throughout the spot. A shame they don't stay open late.
