Not the same restaurant since Jason (previous manager) left. The prices keep going up while the portions, service and quality keep going down. With Jason as manager we would go once every week for dinner.
Went for a spousal dinner on 7/15/22 and had a waiter we never had before. We both ordered the haddock dinner. A different server brought the dinners over to us and said, "I was directed to bring these over to you." I knew this was a red flag meaning we were forgotten by our server. We immediately noticed that both dinners were just barely warm. I mentioned this to our server and just stated that the onion rings were just barely warm and he ordered a new bath that were hot. However, the haddock was cold by this time. At this point I did not mention it any more.
I did ask the waiter if there was a problem in the kitchen and he said this was his fault as he got side-tracked. I appreciated the honesty and as always regardless of quality and service left a generous tip. When it was time to pay for the dinners we were never asked if we wanted to use our birthday rewards, however later this was taken care of. A normal practice is to ask the patron if this is something they would like to redeem
It is a shame to see such a fine establishment like Governor's not paying attention to the details. This has happened in the past and we reframed from attending Governor's for 7 months. Once there was miscommunication that took place with the manager over a birthday cake I ordered that was supposed to be kept frozen but when I picked it up it was in the fridge.
And, in the end when you have your receipt there is always a comment card which I would have taken home to fill out, however, this time there was no card. Maybe this is a new practice. There could have been other ways to have made the dinners right but was never offered. Same with the birthday cake the previous year. I hope these reviews get read and looked over during the staff meetings in an effort to improve the overall quality and experience for both the patron and Governor's. Many months later my spouse and I went out for breakfast. Here again many problems with the food. The eggs were not as ordered, the pork sausage links were not browned at all and did not taste anything like a pork sausage link, the potatoes. were just chucks of potatoes deep fried, no taste and the coffee was old and bitter. When mentioned the waitress never offered a new cup of coffee AND never offered a refill for our soda. Prices have gone up...way up. This breakfast for 2 cost over $30.00 with one desert. We still left a 30 percent tip, but it will be years before I go back and try this...
Read moreFood is OK, decent sized appetizers, but we had the worst waitress ever. We walked in a little after 8pm, the restaurant was not busy at all, maybe 6 or 7 tables were occupied. The waitress stopped by and told us nicely that she would be right back without taking our drinks order. In the next ten minutes, she stopped by two more times and told us nicely she'd be right back. After a day of hiking in the nearby Acadia National Park, we were all thirsty. I had to ask the host to bring us some iced water. At this point, another customer walked in, and our waitress immediately walked over and took his drink order and food order. Sure he is a good looking guy and we are a sweaty family of four, but we had been there for a good 10+ minutes! Finally she got around to take our order and food came fast and tasted OK. She refilled my husband's water cup and put the pitcher down on our table right after, sending us the message that if we need more water, we can serve ourselves. Including us there were 3 tables of customers in the restaurant now, I don't understand why she wouldn't refill our water herself. It's not like we're drinking a ton a minute, other than my husband, the rest three of us still had half glass of water. The bread that came with our meal tasted a bit doughy to me and my husband. When the waitress walked past us, she asked, 'How is everything?' without stopping for an answer (How rude is that? If she didn't want to know the answer, then don't ask; if she asked, at least wait for an answer, care or not care.) My husband had to stop her to tell her the bread was under-baked. And guess what? She didn't apologize or offer any alternative, all she said was, 'it's a soft bread. ' We have been to lots of restaurants and had a few bad experiences, but never had something like this before. All the way from the beginning to the very end, she had made it very clear that she didn't want to serve us at all through her actions. I have never written a review for a restaurant before, but I feel strongly to share my experience this time. Food is mediocre and service is the worst. Not recommended, thumb down 👎. The one and only bad experience during our Acadia...
Read moreUpon arrival I found standing room only with the overflow out into the entrance way. There was a seating list so I requested a table for 2, I was told it would be an approximate 20 minute wait. Approximately 35 minutes later I went in to see how much longer it would be and found I had been scratched off the list. When asked why my party was marked off, I was very rudely told by the Hostess seating people, " Well, I called it twice!". Obviously common sense is lacking when it's obvious the wait line is clear out the doors. Finally after being seated it was another wait before our server came to the table. Our order was taken and my coffee was served. After another approximately 30 minutes our meals were served. I ordered the meat lovers omelet, fried potatoes w/onions, and wheat toast. I was informed at that time that, apparently, the restaurant had run out of onions! How does a restaurant run out if onions when there are 2 grocery stores, one about 100 yds from the restaurant the other less than 1/4 mile. Should never have happened. As for the meal, well, the omelet was sufficient in size with ham, bacon, sausage, and cheese. The bacon tasted like and had the texture of pre-cooked, pre packaged bacon, the sausage was gray and had been on the grill long enough to have grill marks if you looked hard. As mentioned my potatoes were neither grilled nor had any onion in them. I ordered wheat toast, exactly what I got, wheat toast that wasn't buttered. I had to request a refill of my coffee. $42 and some change? Your going to have to do way better if you ever want my business again. 2 out of 10, I'd go back if...
