Had brunch yesterday at Penn Street Kitchen at Hampden and Pennsylvania, and it was great! Can't wait to go back for lunch, dinner and happy hour. The restaurant is lovely inside and the food was really really good. My dad had The Kitchen Sink and it was fantastic and huge. I had the salmon benedict, and I'm pretty fussy about my benedicts, but the hollaindaise was perfect and there was so much salmon on it, that I could have made a whole bagel and lox sandwich from the generous portion. Unlike many restaurants, there are enough soft surfaces absorbing sound that you can actually hear yourself talk, and it's just an all-around winner. Please try it as soon as you can. The city tore up the street in front of the restaurant the week after they opened, which has impacted their business quite a bit. Let's all support them to keep them going until the street re-opens. But just FYI, you can still get there no problem, either from 285 or from Logan and head east. They're on the corner of Old Hampden and Pennsylvania across from Swedish Hospital. It is SO GOOD! Read moreMy wife and I stopped in for lunch and honestly, this was the best meal we’ve had out in a long time. The dining space was beautiful from floor to ceiling, feeling classy, cohesive, and inviting. We were seated immediately and felt very welcomed. The music was the perfect volume and the server, Donovan, was incredibly kind and attentive. Once the food arrived (we got an awesome salad with julienned apples and chicken, delicious buffalo chicken wings, sweet potato wedges, coleslaw, an awesome mocktail with muddled mint and strawberries, and an iced caramel cold brew), our expectations were totally blown out of the water. Everything was prepared to perfection, was hot, full of flavor, and well seasoned. The chef knew exactly what they were doing. They had, unexpectedly, the best buffalo wings I’ve ever had—juicy and perfectly cooked. More flavor than heat, and you didn’t need to drown them in ranch. They were perfect! If I could give this place 10/5 stars I would! Thanks, Penn Street Kitchen! We...
Read moreAfter seeing an article in Westword about this place, then keeping an eye on online reviews, my wife and I decided it was time to try it out. We went for an early dinner on a Sat, with only a few other table occupied. Great variety menu, clean and crisp decor. I had the turkey burger and my wife had the fish and chips. Both were AWESOME! my turkey burger was so tasty and moist. I chose the sweet potato fries and my only complaint is that there were only about 6 sweet potato wedges. Fish and chips with regular fries was great, fish was nice and firm yet flaky and the batter was not mushy or overwhelming Drinks were great as well, my beer was ice cold and my wife's mixed drink was tasty. We plan on going back for sure, probably will try...
