Sadly-- tonight you lost a long time customer-- and now Instead of my present and future business and money, you receive a bad review from a loyal customer.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. RE: The Lady working in boots kicked me out after being in the store for 2 min. ---Now I had been shopping at the North Location for the last 10 years and referring my co-workers and customers. Today during work I had a blowout of sorts with my Red Wings that are about a year old. Needing new boots I got away from the office at 8pm I work from 4am to 6-8pm-- 5 days a week-- got to the boot section in the store at 8:47pm and walked immediately to the clearance boot section which is located at the rear of the store, I had just picked up a pair of CT boots in my size that looked like they would pass muster, when a lady said "Sir,Sir you need to make your selections at the front of the store",Whaat? I said "I came here to buy a pair of boots how can I make a selection at the front of the store when the boots are in the back?" she replied " leave the boot area immediately Sir, the store is closing in 10 minutes". Well guess what the boot staff was doing when I first walked back there-- they were sitting and small talking not getting ready to close. Then they abruptly got up and left the sitting area but didn't ask if I needed anything. The lady was spouting off very loudly that it was "so late already" and near closing time. -- Look I get the 9pm closing time I certainly would have made my selection, paid, and been gone before 9pm.--- ASFL It doesn't take any more of your precious time to help a customer out when it's near closing time, you could have kept my business and my company's referrals. Now you get a bad review for the impatient unhelpful staff working for you, I do Quarry shot service and wholesale sales to the mining industry, If 1 of my staff treated any of my customers like that I would definitely reprimand and take that person off the floor and fired from sales and make him/her accountable for not servicing the customer.( too bad the staff in years past were always helpful, lately not so much./ I immediately left and actually got home by 9pm, I got online and ordered a new pair of boots by 9:15pm and sadly left my opinion...
Read moreI love this place dearly and it's a legitimate local icon. I loved coming here as a little kid. Now, in my mid-30s, I usually get my boots, workwear, and pocket knives from them. Their selection of all those things is beyond good. They also have average or decent prices on most things, in the middle or even lower range of prices available online. Plus, they have a whole clearance side where you can find some great stuff. As such, I recommend buying your boots and work/hunting clothes here, but only up to a point.
My problem with this place is probably not their fault. I think both things that bother me are due to the fact they're on Broadway and the city/state have some serious issues lately.
The staff are helpful and nice, but increasingly in a specific way. A way that means I always do my best to seem clean, have a reason to be there, and keep my hands visible at all times when I'm not actively paying them at the counter. It's been more and more that kind of vibe every time I go in over the years.
They also keep somewhat limited hours for a store that sells a lot of blue collar aimed gear. I've gone there a couple times after work and been caught out by this. I don't usually bother working a return visit into my schedule, I just order the things I need off Amazon from the parking lot. They then show up the next morning in the usual no fuss, non awkward manner.
The whole thing makes me kinda sad. But I'm always glad to see they're still there when I pass by, and I will continue shopping there...
Read moreMy parents and I have been shopping at this store since before I was able to walk. My family are big campers and hunters. My mom bought most of my step dads and boyfriends gifts here.
My boyfriend and I walked into the store intending to spend a good amount of money on new work boots for him. We were not greeted by any of the three men who were working that area. When we asked about how the boots were organized one of the three men in the shoe area rolled his eyes, sighed and explained. Shortly after walked away to talk to the other men about thier personal lives even with multiple people in the department. After we had finally decided on some pairs of shoes to try on we asked for a pair of $200 shoes and the man responded rudely with "I'll try to find them. What size?" When he returned he threw the box at our backs while we were sitting and didn't bother to say a word and just walked away. We asked for two more pairs and got very similar responses both times. We remained polite thanked them for finding shoes. After that experience we decided to go to Murdochs and Cabellas instead. I'd rather pay more for shoes than be treated poorly. I do not like being talked down to one bit. I've worked retail for 10 years now and I can guarantee that if any of my employees treated people like that I would have to insist they look for a different line of work. Re-evaluate the people you have working for you before you lose any more long...
