If half a star was on option, they would get it. * NOT AN ESTABLISHMENT FOR PEOPLE OF COLOUR *
IF you are a hardworking brown or black person or anyone of a hue darker than a passing tone, and are ok with being treated rudely & with scant courtesy, then be my guest but I will NEVER set foot in this place again!
I went in for a General Tso dinner, with extra broccoli and was told "We have no broccoli". I looked at the menu and all the broccoli-laden pics on the wall and sighed at current world events as I chucked it up to the war in the Ukraine probably affecting the global broccoli supply.
Like any paying customer I asked, "Since you have no broccoli, can I substitute it for another vegetable like snow peas?" "No snow peas. General Tso only come with broccoli" Cool, I'll have the broccoli then No broccoli (She has taken & processed my full payment already) But mam u still charged me for the meal which includes the ingredient that u do not have, can you put another vege in its place? There's sprouts and onion in the rice Yes, but that's the norm. What about bell peppers, can that be done instead?
She fixes the order and takes the order of some fair, Latinas and Caucasians who all order some form of veges. As I wait for mine to be bagged, I see the old man walk with a bowl of veges, topped with... BROCCOLI to begin cooking. Naturally, I inquired.
Mam I thought there was no broccoli. I wanted broccoli in my dish. I was ok with paying extra for it.
(She immediately turned into a teenaged dragon) No broccoli. You said no broccoli and pitched my food container on the counter to me. Mam, listen, it is clearly a misunderstanding and I have no problem still eating what was already prepared, can you just add a side of broccoli. I just want the vegetables, it's all good.
(Girl grabs a bowl, speaks to the old man in her language, slams the small bowl down. Attitude. She is clearly annoyed. The Latinas and whites are sitting watching this disrespect and poor customer service unfold.)
Mam, I work very hard for my money. This is my first time in your business. I am supporting your establishment. There is no reason for you to be cutting me off and act like this for a miscommunication.
(She is bouncing about behind the counter, slamming things, saying ok, ok, ok rudely. Telling me I said I did not want broccoli but veges instead.)
By that time I realized she was not reacting based on solving the problem or seeing me as a person, a well dressed, professional person or a first time customer. She was viewing me and reacting toward me as an African American, even though I am not. She just saw another black person with a problem and was on the defensive. There was no kindness, no reason, no humanity driving this young woman behind the counter's interaction with me. She was not apologetic, she was not compassionate and so I made a decision.
You know what mam, it's all good. Keep your food. Give me a refund. I will not be spending my hard earned money here, nor be willing to use this food prepared here with such hate to nourish my body. I want my money back.
She opens the till, pulls out cash, gives it over with attitude
-Here, here, here
And I departed, leaving a few choice words in my wake.
Then I went to New Hong Kong, just around the corner on the main Street, where I received the best customer service and tastiest Shrimp w mixed veges in white sauce with white rice dinner....
Read moreI placed a simple order for pickup. While service is fast and friendly the location leaves a bit to be desired in terms of cleanliness outlook, I know most Chinese food places look messy but I was a little concerned here, I guess because it’s very easy to see through. In terms of the food it was decent but each item something seemed slightly off. And I ordered basic dishes, plain lo mein, sesame chicken, pork egg roll. Even pricing was higher than I’ve paid elsewhere. I think for a quick solution it’s ok but I don’t...
Read moreI’ve been here twice recently, and both experiences have been good. Different staff members helped me each time, and both were super friendly—whether I was calling in my order or picking it up. I ordered the plain lo mein and sesame chicken both times and was happy with what I got. The food was fresh, hot, and exactly what you’d expect from a classic Chinese takeout spot. Nothing fancy, just tasty comfort food and good service. I did come here a couple years ago and it seems to have improved...
