My wife and son were raving about this place. I was looking forward to having their burger. I ordered a double patty burger and here's what I think... The burger was so smashed that as thin as a piece of cardboard. Even though there were two patties, when you looked at the burger from a side view, it barely looked like even one burger. I know it's a smash burger, but it was smashed beyond recognition. The burger went far outside of the bun (because it was over smashed?) and was basically a crispy wafer. Would seem to make more sense to smash it less and have some actual bite in the sandwich. The pickles were sweet. Ugh. The sauce was sweet? Or maybe that was just more of the pickle... I don't know. The bun was not toasted... it was cold. I got the burger the moment it was done, took it into the bar, and started eating. Do they not toast the bun at all? The fries were luke warm at best.
On the bright side, the bar was a great atmosphere and the Pale Ale was good. Was thinking this could be a place I can return to. I will go back to have another burger there, and I'm going to ask them to not kill the burger with the smash, leave the pickles off, leave the sauce off, and toast the bun.
I love burgers. Five Guys and Habit are much better than what I got at...
Read moreStopped by Burger Buds on Sunday and unfortunately had a pretty frustrating experience. Their card reader wasn’t working — not a huge deal since I had cash — but that was just the beginning.
After placing and paying for our order, it took an incredibly long time to get our food. During the wait, we noticed several customers who seemed to be familiar with the staff walk up, order, and receive their food well before us. Meanwhile, our pager never went off. We were standing right next to the truck the whole time, being swarmed by flies — pretty gross and definitely not a great vibe while waiting for food.
At one point, a guy mentioned he was missing chicken strips from his order. They quickly made him some, which is fine — but I couldn't shake the feeling they might’ve handed him ours. Eventually, I got fed up and asked about our order, and suddenly it was "ready." Either it had been sitting there the whole time, or they rushed it — but either way, the food was cold.
The chicken strips were dry and not enjoyable at all. On top of that, they didn’t come with any sauce unless you paid extra.
Overall, between the slow service, questionable handling of orders, swarming flies, and cold food, I can't recommend this place. Save your money and check out one of the many better food...
Read moreDriving through on a roadtrip and stopped by the highest rated food place in the area (per Google reviews), which turned out to be a burger food truck. Unfortunately I was not at all impressed by their burgers.
Pros:
FRIES: The fries are perfection. Thick cut, served hot and fresh. Perfectly salted.
SAUCE: The garlic aioli was the holy grail. I would buy this if they sold it by the jar!
CUSTOMER SERVICE: I had an issue with my first burger that was promptly resolved. A++ customer service all around, but especially during the fixing of this issue. I can tell they care about their customers.
Cons:
GREASY: Without exception, these are the greasiest burgers I have EVER had. Literally pools of grease. Impossible to eat without getting messy.
DRY: Although the burgers were wet with grease, the actual smashed patties were overcooked and quite dry (very well-done).
I would return for the fries, and I am curious to try their dessert, but unfortunately I will be skipping the burgers.
For a spot that specializes in burgers, I had high expectations but I truly...
