McDonald's — Restaurant in Erie

If I could give ZERO stars.. I would. One star is being extremely generous. Where to start.. well.. I used to live a block away from this location. We were literally supporting ourselves off the mcchickens and iced coffees for a while. Which eventually turned into delivery orders and stopping in occasionally after we moved a little farther away. I can count on both hands the amount of times we have actually gotten a GOOD, CORRECT order from this location (over about a 6 YEAR period). It NEVER fails! Iced coffees with no ice (or so disgusting they're undrinkable), McChickens with no chicken.. yes, I got served a bun with lettuce and mayo!.. (or they end up with an entire 1/2 CUP of mayo on ONE sandwich), fries SO salty they're inedible (or they end up with no salt at all, soggy, cold, or weird tasting from their grease not being clean).. wrong orders, missing items, delivery orders ALWAYS missing straws and sauces, food so disgusting or poorly made it goes straight in the garbage can.. WASTED MONEY! WASTED REWARDS! There have been several incidences at this location.. fights between customers, fights between staff and customers, fights between customers and management, photos of staff circulating doing attrocious things. It has literally been one thing after another with this store!! It hasnt changed at all in 6 years! We have given this place chance, after chance, after chance. The one on 5th was at least slightly better, should have kept that one and got rid of Sass. At one point a few years ago, I even called corperate and spoke to some guy that claimed he was some kind of general manager, and managed several of the Erie locations. I spent like 15 minutes telling him everything about this store. He claimed he would address it, and took my info for some coupons and things for everything we'd been through here. We never did recieve anything, and no changes were ever made to the store or staff. It just seems to get worse over time as many places in Erie do. Honestly, if your staff cant pour a simple drink or put a sandwich together, you definitely need to look internally at where the problem lies. Because in the 6 year time period we've been dealing with this store, we've MAYBE gotten 6 good orders. Thats it. I had a manager tell me once, think his name was wayne, "well if this is every time, then why do you still come here?" What a great response to a customer just wanting their food made right. Not a sloppy, soggy, disgusting mess. Had another employee tell me I was "just looking for a hand out", all because I wanted the 20pc mcnugget I paid for and did not recieve. I nearly fought a disrespectful female employee who let my coffee sit half made on the counter while she nonchalantly strutted along, checking her cellphone, and shaking the basket of fries still cooking in the fryer.. claiming they're "slammed busy".. and she would make my coffee "when she felt like it". That was after I waited over 20 minutes for it. I nearly jumped over the counter that day! I think thats why when they remodled they added a wall so you can't see them making the food now. There were TOO many mistakes and TOO many nasty employees at this location. Well.. FFWD to today, I used my rewards for a free large carmel iced coffee.. to not even get one sip of it. It was a nasty color, had a nasty smell, and NO ice.. in an ICED coffee! Like, this place needs to just give up and close. Let something better come in. There's absolutely NO reason for it to be like this! At all!

I love this McDonald's, I go everyday for breakfast, it's cheaper than the Zoo. Everything is sticky, there is almost always a homeless person in the bathroom, either brushing their teeth or bathing in the sink. The staff is so horribly rude and the service so slow. Yesterday I watched an elderly man get berated and belittled for the way he reqested more creamer in his coffee (politely I might ads) and by a manager! A MANAGER told this customer how and why he was wrong! This establishment is not for the family, it is not for the faint of heart, nor the thin skinned populace. However, if you're looking for cheap entertainement, meth, sticky seats or the worst customer service you have ever had, this is the place. So to the staff of McD on 12th and sass, Ray Kroc probably hates you, but I love you, don't go changing just for the sake of capitalism. You're better than that. many months of poor service later... so admittedly i dine here daily. or i did, I buy the same $5 breakfast i sit in the same vicinity, but i converse with all sorts of people, i eat my food, i read the paper, i chat on facebook and to fellow patrons, im there for about an hour, usually less. today on my way in I spot a blood filled syringe on the sidewalk right next to the entrance (see pics) i immediately alert the shift manager to the blight and potential health risk, im told its none of her concern. so i abscond to the parking lot in search someone who may share in my concern, there is none. I stand by it and light a cigarette. my ploy works, the store manager bursts onto the scene like batman and immediatly begins chastizing me for smoking close to the entrance. i point out the syringe, i am told "we are doing the best we can with all you people hanging out here"

so this review is to serve as a public service announcement, to all 30 something, sober, employed, tax paying, fathers out there that patron mcdonalds on 12th and sass: please stop, management has had enough. I for one, will...

I expect a certain level of quality when I get fast food. 90% of my order correctly made. Some heat to my fries, and no 7 hour old mcnuggets. But I am regularly greeted here with a smile that I will be %@&+! Is genuine, well, most always. If that person was continuously happy I wouldn't drink the koolaid.

The manager on my last trip sees me come in with an absolutely depressed and drunken st pattys day walking reminder we need aspirin at home. I found him yelling some name I could not quite make out, and talked him into a lower decibel and the promise of a double cheeseburger sealed that door of future law involvement. This is after I bounced at SULLIVAN'S PUB for 15 and a half hours straight.

I get him into a booth, and explain to the very understanding manager that I wanted this, ahem, younger man(slightly younger. Lol) to have a bite and as long as he behaved she would help w a taxi or uber call. After getting him his sandwich, and my darling daughter a shamrock shake, I realize I don't have my card, and just enough cash for them.

So I ache, hunger is ok. This young man going to jail for some imagined or possibly real slight from, well, what EVER her name was, shouldn't possibly ruin a clean slate, or possibly ruin making it to work or worse. These people, after a day of abuse from faux Irish, had real smiles and were quick to laugh. The service was prompt, and the building spotless. And they are ok with helping people beyond their set of standard few or plentiful tasks, and still with a smile.

So yes, 5 stars because sticking another on there would only block my screen anyway. Stickers only are visible to that one phone anyway, but they deserve it. So go out and try something new or all over again in this case! And have a great day.
