Rock n' Jenny's Italian Subs — Restaurant in Escondido

The pink unicorn actually exists!

What I mean by that is an incomparable experience I had at this deli. I walk in during a fairly busy lunch hour and the owner Jenny greets me at the door, she's a very friendly lady. Helped us look at the menu and a little friendly chit-chat.

I had modest expectations since most sandwich shops in San Diego aren't good at all. I came to find out the owner Jenny grew up in Connecticut where there are amazing deli's everywhere. So now I'm thinking maybe there's a possibility for a good meal but we're still in San Diego County so my expectations are still minimal.

My friend and I decided to split the big hot pastrami sandwich and it was so so so good! I said to my friend "that might be the best sandwich I ever ate". Seriously, it was that good. The only other deli in San Diego County that even comes close to this is Poma's in Ocean Beach but this place is probably better.

This place is amazing, a sandwich truly comparable to what you'd get in New York or Connecticut. Congrats Jenny on 30 years in business, hopefully this place will be around for another 30. I'll be back for a "meatball...

It's been awhile, since I've enjoyed a good Italian Sub, with a perfectly crisp roll, & melted cheese, both toasted lovingly, in a Pizza-Type oven.

My Ham & Provolone Sandwich was a revelation, with plenty of ham & a thick slice of provolone cheese, which when melted, mates beautifully with all that ham. Mustard oozes from beneath the ham, after every bite. Olive oil, drizzled liberally over the shredded lettuce, finishes this Uber tasty sandwich off nicely, adding a distinctly Italian flavor, to the mix.

Their Potato Salad, With Olives, was also excellent.

This restaurant has a fairly-sizable dining area, & it was filled with patrons, when we arrived, at just shy of 1p.m., on a Saturday afternoon. It's apparent, that more folks than us enjoy this sub shop, which has been around since 1989. That fact speaks loudly about this place- Rock n' Jenny's...

Our visit this time was very disappointing...my husband and I ordered the spaghetti and meatball dinner and while we have ordered this meal many times before and truly enjoyed it, this time was different. I don't think it was the food but the staff on duty this day, Sunday Oct 15, 2017...our spaghetti was cold, we sent it back and it came back luke warm, I went back up to the counter and told the girl I needed carryout containers to take home my cold meal so I and heat it home and eat it there...my surprise was no response not even a sorry let me make it right this time...I then asked for a carryout bag and received what looked like a used bread bag and was told that was all they had...I liked this place very much in the past because the food is really good but if your staff cannot ad to your image you may lose customers, of which I may...
