Twisted Griffin Irish Pub and Restaurant is located within the shops in Estes Park. The Pub may be overlooked to passerby’s as they’re hitting the shops but it is an experience you MUST try.
Upon our entrance into the Pub, we were graciously greeted and treated with care. We sat at the bar with Ian and were walked through different Whiskey selections, cocktails, and recommendations on dishes from bite size to dinner portions.
I had an espresso martini that was rich and delicious while my partner had a beer. For our meal we shared the twisted chips and cod bites. Each bite of cod was as good as the first. My partner and I are not fans of cod but let me tell you, it was fried to perfection; crispy, flaky, and delivered fresh from Seattle!
To top our experience, the chef even stopped by to ask how the side items tasted. I did not get his name but I want to thank him again for checking in on us!
Overall, it was an enjoyable experience within a fantastic atmosphere. The vibe of the restaurant was perfect for those looking for a more intimate setting. Ian, thank you again for such a delightful experience!! 10/10...
Read moreWe went on the first night open having no idea this was the case. We were patient of course knowing they’ve only just opened. I want to say, our server was absolutely LOVELY. She seemed a bit nervous but as a long time F&B industry person myself I completely understood. She rocked it! The food however was atrocious especially for the price. The only thing that came out decent was the cottage pie. Guinness Stew was bitter as if the beer hadn’t fully cooked out and was full of grease, fish and chips were clearly cooked in oil that was much too hot as it was brown and the batter was sliding off. Actual fish was okay but did not come with real thick traditional chips, rather overly seasoned thin French fries that tasted like they’d been thawed from frozen. Beer was good and service was great but for $200+ dollars for a party of 5 we left kinda just wishing we had cooked at home. Would love to see how this little place grows because there is a ton of potential here! Gonna take some work though to justify...
Read moreWe have been waiting to try the Twisted Griffin and were happy we went. It was super nice to have Guinness on tap. We all got the fish and chips and loved the beer battered cod. The chips were soggy, needing a second fry to be perfect. This was the disappointment of the dish. Tasty, yet limp fries. Fish was perfect though. The Crab Boxty we had as an appetizer was rather sad for the price. By this, I mean it needed more flavoring like salt. Some better seasoning would elevate it a bit more. It was a tad burnt, perhaps needing to be cooked in a bit more oil or butter instead of dry panning it. Serving it on some ugly iceburg is not the best for presentation. Perhaps on a remoulade or romaine cup, remoulade, and boxy. As they are new, I'm going to give them some time to work out the kinks. Still, a great staff and atmosphere with good...
