Nasty. Not even worth a star. I mean, everything is literally covered in cheap tasting miracle whip mayo and every roll is more rice with hardly anything else inside of it. And I tried quite a few rolls to give them a chance to improve my first impression of the place (which is poor, by the way, because all the food looks put together by a pack of 3 year olds that hose it all down with mayo to hide the lack of fresh quality ingredients) but I just couldn't do it. The tuna was grey and unappetizing, the asparagus (which was supposed to be crunchy and deep fried) was bland and SO mushy, and the tempura shrimp was so small and flavorless that what you are really just paying $2 a plate for is RICE. Which is why the rolls look large, because if you flip the over to see the inside, they are not just a circle of rice, they are almost nothing BUT rice, if you can see anything at all under the oozing masses of orange colored mayo squinted everywhere. I have had great "spicy mayo" sauce before at sushi places so I do know what it is supposed to taste like, but this is just soooo nasty. And if it doesn't come with a ton of this mayo sauce on top, you get your share of mayo from the masses of pureed tuna/mayo mixture used in 90% of the rolls as a cheap filler so they can still say a roll has "tuna" :( No. No. No. NO. In Salem, there are tons of sushi bars that have rolls for only $1.85 a plate, and they use better quality ingredients and REAL , fresh, pink tuna along with the tuna puree stuff, but not this much. This use of rice and cheap mayo is so excessive to fill people up while using the absolute minimum amount of anything else. There is no excuse for such shortcuts at a sushi bar. I will never...
Read moreThis place is easily in my top 3 favorite places to eat. I love it for several reasons:
For one the sushi belt experience is a blast. Being able to see all the varieties of flavors cruise by and plucking whatever catches your eye is great fun.
Another reason is that the sushi is delicious! I've never had obscenely expensive super high end sushi but I've had some pretty high price tag stuff and 541's sushi beats the spendy stuff hands down in quality, and flavor.
Then for the best part! It's only 2.50 per plate! Most plates have 4 pieces or so. It goes from 2-6 pieces on a plate I think. Sizes vary, so regardless of the number of pieces, every plate is well worth the low price.
Also you get to watch the sushi be constructed from behind the belt which is another fun tidbit about eating here.
Tldr: cheap, fun, delicious, highly...
Read moreThis was the absolute worst sushi I’ve ever had. I ordered a sushi off the conveyor belt and I thought it was avocado at first and it tasted terrible it was like raw asparagus or something. Then I ordered from the menu because I didn’t want to take anymore chances and ordered a cali roll and spicy tuna. You can’t mess up originals like that but they used imitation crab and it tasted like it had sat out for hours it was not good at all, I also found a hair on it and gave it to the staff. I tried my spicy tuna thinking it couldn’t get any worse and I kid you not it tasted like the tuna came out of a can. It made my whole mouth stink and it was worse than any stores sushi I’ve ever had. I’ve never had bad sushi and I’ve gotten sushi from winco, Safeway, and so many restaurants. I will never waste my money here again. I...
