Max's Tavern — Restaurant in Eugene

I used to drop by here to meet up with people but I never liked it much or at all really so I would leave and nobody else would stay either. No space to move around not due to the volume of people but the sheer lack of space. You have to list out any drink with more than one ingredient and they probably won't serve it anyway. Last I checked the shot glasses were too clunky to bomb in a pinter... What kinda dive slash college slash whatever they're trying to be bar denies even that? I would rather buy a beer next door at the food mart(enter in the back heh) and drink it in the alley with a local bum than here. I did that one time but didn't have a bottle opener so I asked a chick on their porch for a lighter and her snobby answer, "I don't smoke." As if I did or something (which I do cause it's awesome when you drink) but that's basically the crowd you'll find there. The owner is a straight lame, really full of himself just check his facebook profile. His sons are brats too. No way do I want to fund daddy's trust with my hard earned cash. If you are a true local you know where the real shiznit goes down but to all you first timers maxs is an OK place to pop your bar cherry because if you start there it only...

Bartenders here have no problem hitting women. Everyone got up on tables and benches so the gals I was with got up on chairs, bartender comes over and maybe said something in the few moments he was there(very loud) before slapping one of the gals hard on the leg. Let me reiterate, didn't tap her or pull on her sleeve, slapped her almost causing her to fall and yelling at her. Upon going up to the bar and talking to him he said it was our fault and walked away. Another bartender, female, we talked to said it was our fault and apologized it happened. Now here's the problem, she didn't say that what happened is not okay, she didn't say she'd talk to the guy who did not care to listen or see it as a problem, and she didn't even seem to believe us. Which means this guy is still doing things that are inappropriate and abusive and the staff did not see that behavior as a problem, merely they were sorry for the situation. I just hope the problem doesn't persist and the staff confronts it as an issue instead of sugar coating these circumstances. If that happens I'd be more then happy to change my review but for now I'll be gladly going...

Horrible. The so called manager, so she said serving tables is beyond rude walk in after work just moved to oregon and bought a house literally 50ft away from this bar. Anyway get off work go home love on my dog and walk across the street to get a couple drinks. Standing at the bar to order approached by a woman who seems mad that I'm there. Ask if im alone I said yes just want a couple drinks after work. Tells me I cant be inside leads me to a table outside I sit there for 15 minutes waiting on a captain and coke. So she comes out after another 10 minutes with my change. So that's 25 minutes for 1 drink. So called manager was very rude to me and if your looking for a chill drink this isn't the place for you. Horrible service horrible vibes...
