UPDATE 3/14/17
RE Mongolian Beef comment below… Wife wanted me to ask about the Mongolian Beef - the percentage of beef vs onion - instead of just not ordering. So I did.
I was first asked if I'm ordering the lunch-size or the dinner-size. I said dinner (3x until I was understood). Regarding the small about of beef, I was told to think of the Mongolian Beef as an onion dish. It's just not going to have much beef.
Did I still want? No, give me 2 sesame chickens. VERY disappointing. Lowered 5-star rating to 4-star. In my opinion, beef should be at least 50% of the entrée.
REVIEW 3/3/17
Been enjoying Wok Express since they opened several years ago so this review is based on several years of experience. We find their food is fresher, less fatty chicken than other chinese restaurants around us. Used to be slightly less expensive but since we've stopped using Euless Wok and others 5 yrs ago, not sure if that's still true. I know they raised prices a little a few yrs ago but so did everyone. Choice of lunch-sized portions or dinner; diff prices depending.
We think they're healthier than most while still maintaining great taste. We always order sesame chicken (used to be orange chicken but we like sesame slightly more), vegetable fried rice and Mongolian beef. We're going to stop ordering the mong beef though; last 4-5 times, the amount of onions vs beef increased to overwhelm the beef, whos quality is decreasing.
Wok Express didn't used to deliver but that changed 3-4 yrs ago. Delivery is 3-star average at best. One time, on my 3rd call for a missed ETA to find out where the delivery driver was, I told them to cancel the delivery; that I would come pickup. Ran into the delivery guy as I was getting in my car. Told him I had cancelled order, that I'll pickup fresh to presumably 40-min old order. That was one-time, worse case. Delivery is never fast though even in best case. Try not to ever use.
Pickup is a diff story! That's 5-star. You can drive through and you get your food made fresh to order. Yes, you have to wait 5 min or more for it but you do at some fast food places, too.
BEST OPTION BY FAR: order in advance by phone. They say ready in 15 min but I plan to pickup in 7-10min. I spend 1 min paying and I'm on my way back home w hot food. BTW - If you pre-order, don't stop at the order window to tell them you're there for pickup. Bypass any cars there and line-up at the pickup window. There is usually not a car at pickup but if there is, wait. Personally, if there's a car, I just park and run in. I'll be in and out in 2 min.
The 1 or 2 times I've had a problem, they have resolved it immediately to my satisfaction. Good management.
Outside looks utilitarian brick but is actually beautiful inside for what-looks-like-fast-food diner. Wood floors, modern lights,...
Read moreLocal place that my family and I found a couple of years ago (and gave it rave reviews) (We like to hit the small business places)...Had a couple of disappointments previously with the food and gave it a rest and found another Chinese food place. Fast forward and went back this past weekend to give it another try - and it was pretty bad.
Service: The manager/owner (female) was busy with a headset taking orders at the register from the drive-through, as we were waiting to place our orders inside. Then the phone rang for a take out order and she took that - as we still waited (again) at the counter to place our order.
Food: As far as Chinese food - it was incredibly bland. I ordered a Beef Fried Rice (Menu E1) and the meat literally tasted like it was boiled..the rice was also overly cooked and seemed "chewy." - I am not one to throw away food I paid for but in this case I did. We now go to Fresh Wok off Central in Bedford - Fast, Fresh and the portion sizes are incredible. Sorry Wok Express, you lost our business...
Re-focus and fix the issues. A customer in front of you placing an order is always more important than one on the phone - who can wait 30 seconds more. QC - the food coming out of the kitchen to make sure it looks/is prepared properly...
Read morePlaced an order through DoorDash, I wanted to make sure I got enough duck sauce so I called the location and told them about the sauce. The owner said that I should've placed the order through DoorDash because they weren't as fast and cost more. I shook it off because I understood from the business side that it's an additional fee they pay; however, I live on the border of Grand Prairie and Arlington so many places feel like I am too far away for their own delivery so I just got in the habit of ordering from couriers like DoorDash. My food was ok the egg roll was half the size in width of a egg roll, but all that was fine. The owner called me afterward and very rudely said that DoorDash never picked up my order and asked where is the driver. I told her I already received my order and then she asked why she had another order for me and I said I didn't know I only placed one order and she complained that it was $17 of her food going to waste. I'm not sure where the confusion was or what her issue is but those problems are not on me. The customer is not always right but you shouldn't call a customer and then argue because an order was placed twice either one her employees messed it up or DoorDash all I did was...
