Been here about 5 times now. Was excited to finally find another Nepali Resturant not too far from arlington instead of going to Irving. The food is top notch and the drinks as well!! The service has always been okay not great but today was just awful. It was like we were a bother to come in and eat. We ate at 5 pm and they open at 4pm. When walking in we were greeted and sat. The lady that took our order was nice but after she took our order we never saw her again. She sat behind us in a booth eating her own food and watching something on her cell phone so loud I couldn’t even carry on a conversation with the person I came to eat with. When I went to the restroom I saw no hand soap. I had to go ask someone to fill it so I could wash my hands. I asked twice and everytime I went back nobody filled it. Myself as a man knocked on the women’s bathroom to see if soap was there and a little remained in the bottle so I quickly washed my hands and told my friend that’s a guy to use the women’s restroom due to the lack of soap. What’s concerning is if the bathrooms have been without soap how is the staff and cooks washing their hands and other customers. This was a huge turn off. Again I asked twice for hand soap. I counted 4 people working out front all standing around talking or on the phone. After we ate we sat and sat and sat the lady that took our order walked past collected dishes off a dirty table she dropped a bowl of dip and it went everywhere. She left the dish and the huge slippery mess all over the floor and it got all over my pants. She never said sorry and it was never cleaned up. I had to get up and ask the hostess for my check and to go boxes that’s after I almost broke my leg standing up cause of the huge spill that lady did and never cleaned. Again, food always always good. But the service today was horrible like really horrible. Seems to be lacking a good management team. This was just inexcusable. Our waitress was tall and wore glasses long hair pulled back. Never have I felt so unwelcome somewhere. Will give it some time before we come back if we even do, or just order...
Read moreI recently visited the Bara Nepalese Restaurant for the first time and it was pleased with the overall experience. The service was great, and the employees were friendly and accommodating. I tried the Sukuti, which was nicely prepared and tasted delicious. However, I was disappointed with the Newari Khaja as it didn't meet my expectations. But the chatamari that I had was simply amazing! It was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Nonetheless, the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere, and I would recommend it for those looking for a good Nepali cuisine experience
Updated : I recently returned to Bara Nepalese Restaurant after a long time, traveling all the way from Oklahoma just to get the Newari Baji Set—which my wife really loves. We don’t have good Newari restaurants in Oklahoma, so I was really looking forward to this. I arrived at the restaurant around 3:30 PM and waited outside for 30 minutes until it opened at 4 PM. I was the very first customer of the day, and then I waited another 30 minutes just to get the order. I didn’t mind the wait because I wanted everything to be packed well for the 3-hour drive back.
I clearly requested the food to be packed properly, with extra aluminum foil, since we had a long journey ahead. But when I opened the package later, there wasn’t a single piece of foil used. Everything was stuffed into one container—with cold achar and hot curry mixed together. That’s not how a Baji Set should be handled, especially for takeaway. The set includes many different items, and for to-go orders, it should absolutely be packed in separate containers. Even if it means charging extra, I would have happily paid more for better packaging.
This meal was meant for my wife, and she was really disappointed this time. I’ve had good experiences here in the past, but this visit didn’t meet expectations. I hope the restaurant takes feedback seriously and improves the way they handle takeaway orders in the future—especially when customers are traveling from far just to enjoy authentic...

Server(s) Friendliness: 5/5
Music: 5/5 (Whose playlist is that!)
Bara(Titular food of the restaurant): 4/5. Comparatively pricy for the portion size, costs like 10 dollars with the extras and comes with no sides. Just one piece of bara. Bara with meat: 5/5 Mixed bara with egg and meat: 2/5 (The should just name it Omlette with bara and not bara with egg. Even plain simple bara is better than this omlette with bara.) Plain simple bara: 4/5. Tastes like bara, simple.
Cocktails: 3.5/5. Not the best cocktails tbh. Limited options.
Samay Bhaji: 5/5. A must-have item in my opinion.
Chatamari: 3/5. Small portion size for the price. Tastes good though. Potato and cauliflower in chatamari? Whaat?
Momo: 2.25/5. Average taste, small round momos. Nothing special. Neither good, nor bad. Such an average taste that I barely remember how they taste like. Most of the other Nepalese restaurants in DFW have bigger momos than theirs. On top of it, these momos are pricier. This place seriously needs to raise their momo game.
Mutton Sekuwa, Sekuwa Sticks: 2/5. I don’t know what they are doing wrong with their sekuwa but it just doesn’t taste right. Has kind of weird teriyaki-like tangy taste to it. Definitely doesnot taste like authentic Nepalese spices Sekuwa. Asian recipe maybe?
Pork sekuwa sticks: 5/5. That teriyaki-like tangy taste mixes well with the Pork meat though.
Nutrela/Soyabean Choila: 5/5. Great vegetarian option.
Chicken Choila: 3/5. Dry meat.
A general theme for all the food here is: Very small portion size for the price. Buff sukuti, chicken choila, mutton sekuwa, Bara etc. All of these come with no extra sides and the portion size is...
