Caveat emptor, fellow FlatHeads.
The food here tastes entirely different from what I’ve come to expect from TFlats over the years. The yellow queso was bland — I’ve NEVER experienced this at ANY TFlats. At the bare minimum, the queso is the one constant GREAT item on the menu.
The “blackened” chicken, at this location in particular, had ZERO taste. In fact, it tasted like diced frozen Costco chicken. Your blackened chicken bowl, megajuana has been my go to order for well over a decade so I know when it’s right and when it’s very wrong.
Unfortunately, in my case tonight, it was VERY WRONG.
The bowl I ordered was supposed to have HALF black beans, HALF pinto beans. It came out barely warm, with two heaping spoonfuls of each bean (which were abnormally runny - EW!) and not at all what I wanted.
I was also charged for two additional sides of pinto and black beans — which, again, was NOT what I ordered. Management took the extra sides off, which I appreciated but my plate still came out with them.
Even after adding a copious topper of Jason’s Mom’s Sauce and Mae Ploy, this bowl still had next to no taste. It was unacceptable.
A table of strangers seated next to me also had a huge issue with their meal. It was so bad, the father sent his entire meal back. “This happens every time we eat here,” he said. Yet he keeps coming back because he loves your brand - as do I.
Also, while the MOD was nice, I observed him being quite curt with the gentleman seated next to me. Which only exacerbated his situation. I simply ate what I could stomach in the restaurant, and threw the rest out. It wasn’t even worth taking to go, which I normally would.
This lack of quality (and lack of care of quality) is NOT what I expect from TFlats, and I hope it’s addressed at this Mt Dora location. I’ve never had a meal this tasteless or bad at a...
Read moreTonight my family and I ordered through the app for pickup. We asked for smack sweet, don't be a chicken, and bangin chicken hot sauces. The sauces are unusually thin with the consistency of water and lacking flavor. I got a second opinion from my girlfriend that also said it's way too thin and lacking flavor. I don't know if it's this location cutting the hot sauces with water for to-go orders to stretch the sauces further or Tijuana flats as a whole but they were very unpleasant and it ruined my experience. Because of the thinness of all of the hot sauces, my container holding my food, chips, and tacos all got soaked in watery sauces making them mushy and unpleasant. The chipotle "salsa" was also thin and runny as can be with almost no flavor. I've been going to Tijuana flats for roughly 10+ years and I've never experienced this before. I contacted the restaurant and was told that they don't know what I'm talking about and dismissed what I was saying as if I was lying or making stuff up and being pretty rude at the same time. I'm not happy and will be contacting corporate and getting their...
Read moreI asked my wife if she would like to go out for dinner, she has never said no, lol. I asked her what she was in the mood for, she told me to decide. I suggested Tijuana Flats, she was not impressed. Since neither of us have been to one before I decided to push my luck and take her there. Ordering was a pleasure. The server was VERY tolerant of first timers. Answered all our questions with a smile. When the food arrived we were a little disappointed, it didn't look like much. Before the food arrived I tried some of the sauces. WOW we're they good! We started eating and I completely forgot about the sauces, the food was really that GOOD. What we originally thought was not enough food turned out to be too much. I finished mine but was in pain, it really did fill me up that much. It was so good that I could not leave any. My wife on the other hand could not finish her's. She's still mad she left any and didn't take the rest home. The servers were very attentive, sorry I didn't get they're names. I would have liked to give them the credit they are due. All in all it was a great experience and we...
