Definitely not a breakfast restaurant. Coffee was average. The eggs were undercooked and it took forever to get the breakfast.
Asked for feedback by Perkins - this is what I sent them:
When we arrived (2 of us) the lobby was full of about 9 people. One very busy person seated one party at a time, retrieved coffee and cups, pored the coffee.
She took a circuitus route through the backhouse, returned, clearly frazzled, and seater the next two parties. We were the third party.
Another person sat us, gave us menus and coffee. The coffee tasted either OLD or dishwater weak. She was very pleasant.
After a few more parties were seated, we placed our order. The server seemed to take good notes.
After an unusual wait the server returned with the two meals. Avocado Benedict and two over MEDIUM, biscuits, hash browns and sausage patties.
The Avacado Benedict was very nice. My wife appreciated it.
My order: eggs were runny, hash browns were stale and cold, the sausage patties were overcooked and clearly recovered from the grill hours ago. The biscuits were perfect, though no butter on the table or on the plate.
I set the plate aside. When the server returned I pointed out I could not eat the runny eggs. She offered to bring fresh ones.
5 minutes later, the server returned with what looked like good eggs.
JUST THE EGGS. When I asked if I was to eat the fresh eggs with the cold EVERYTHING else, she offered to replace the entire meal.
Another period of time passed. She returned with perfectly cooked hash browns, warm biscuits, and freshly cooked sausage patties. BUT the eggs were overcooked.
You asked for a report. I am a Certified Google Local Reviewer. I have not had this unpleasant a breakfast in quite some time.
No doubt Perkins is stressed with the same personnel issues everyone else is. Then train the managers to get the best out of those there please.
We will come for takeout pies, but never again for coffee and breakfast. Too many other choices within 2 miles.
This, in your business is called : A training...
Read moreWow, what happened to the Perkins in Mt. Dora? We were craving breakfast for dinner. We were last there a few years back and was pretty good then. We walked in Saturday evening about 6 pm and it looked like the place was closed! Maybe one other car in parking lot. As we approached the front door, the glass was filthy. When we got in the restaurant, the paint on the doors was chipped and dirty. Our red flags were telling us to go someplace else. The sweet hostess was nice. The place was dirty, our table sticky and the place was warm and stuffy. Almost every window in the place needed a good cleaning. Then we met our waitress. Nice lady, but not sure where her conversation was coming from. From a hysterectomy, one ovary, to bra size, to husband's weight loss and horse betting! Someone help us! We did order our dinner breakfast. I ordered the omelet, home fries, with pancakes. The home fries were as hard as dice and refried 2 too many times. The omelet? Luke warm, and watery. How do you undercooked an omelet? A first for me. The pancakes were better than the food, but by that time, the whole dirty place and stuffy air, my wife suggested we get out of there. My wife had a little better luck with her eggs and pancakes but the stuffy place and dirtiness of the restaurant was something we were both not used to. The place just felt like it was given up on, and it was truly empty on a Saturday night and I think understandably why it was empty. Such a waste of money and time for such simple food. Nothing seemed the same at the Mt. Dora Perkins. First time for us at a Perkins. Place needs a new plan. Truly a disappointment. We never expected this and should had walked out when the red flags hit....
Read moreWorse experience that i got in the restaurant. We been to have lunch in there. The lady that supposed to great us was not even saluting or welcoming us... She just ask" how many? ". We got a person in a wheel chair and we request a regular table... So we can accommodate the wheel chair person inside...the restaurant was almost empty still She took us to a boot... We ask again emphasis to her the need to accommodate the chair... We received a brief answer" this is your table "..then she left. It was impossible to seat there due to the fact that the wheel chair person is in incapacity to walk or stand... So we seat ourselves to a regular table and we accommodate the wheel chair. The lady/hostess saw us and she came screaming at us : that's not the table where i sat you... You must move... You can't just sat where you want. The manager approach us and instead to show any understanding of the situation or try to act with courtesy and hospitality... He engage into the discussion by yelling and finger pointing to us where we can seat and the fact he will no willing to move tables and chairs to accommodate us. So we stood up and took our friend in the wheel chair and roll out. Incredible, unacceptable, unbelievable... I wish i knew some CEO or ownership to this chain of restaurants so they will know who is representing their image and brand. We love Perkins we eat often at Perkins... But this location will definitely change the image...
