My family was visiting from Michigan and decided to try this restaurant today before we left. We are so glad that we did! I had lived in Chicago for almost 4 years and so have tried many restaurants in the city and honestly this climbed to my top favorite after the very first bite! I got the steak and chicken Phillys, wife got the dynamite burger, and we got the zinger burger for the kids. We also tried their signature broast. The broast was cooked to perfection with really soft chicken with an amazingly crispy skin! The chicken itself could have been marinated for a bit longer because the flavor wasn't too deep but again, cooked to perfection! Both phillys were extremely tasty! I swear the steak philly was better than the one I had in Philadelphia! We both thought the chicken philly JUST edged over the steak in taste. My wife's new favorite burger is now the dynamite burger from this restaurant. The burger buns were the right size, soft yet toasted and flavorful yet complementary to the patty, which itself was very well seasoned. We added the fresh jalapenos which had a nice kick. The kids usually only go for the fries yet both loved the zinger burger and finished it! The sauce was really tasty!! We also had their fries which weren't that good. The owner did apologize for that saying their normal shipment of fries wasn't delivered. This amazing food needs really good seasoned fries, too. Not just store bought, cheap frozen fries with some sprinkled seasoning! They do have a sink to wash hands but you really should have a bathroom, too, especially if you have a dine in area. I also wish they had fountain drinks with refills! The can from their fridge was not very cold and with the quantity they give, runs out quickly. I cannot WAIT to be back to Chicago to eat here again! Keep doing what...
Read moreThis is a slightly off-kilter "just your expected strip-mall joint" in that it isn't quite what you expect. The food is sort of what you expect, but not quite. We got a Philly steak and "Broasted" dark meat chicken. I've never had something called a "steak" made with gyros meat before, and the chicken had a definite level of spice to the batter that wasn't what you usually get in most "regular" places. Neither of these variations from the usual was "wrong" in any sense, they were both quite good actually, just not as expected. And the place proudly wears its Muslim heritage (quotes from the Quran on the wall, with translation though) in a very visible way, which another thing you don't see much (not around here anyway). But all the regular advantages of a strip-mall joint are here. Parking is easy and pretty much at the door. The place clearly and effectively focuses on take-out to its advantage (they mention delivery and there are a couple of tables inside for sit-down diners, but I didn't see any of either happen while I was there). And they were not too busy and are quite quick. Which, in my case at least, was quite important since, and I could see the preparation area with the two older guys working it from where I waited, as far as I could tell they didn't start on my order until I showed up to get it. And there's enough variety to the menu that you should always be able to find something for those "too tired to cook and too hungry to wait" times. Just don't expect the items and prices you see online to precisely match what is actually going to happen when you get there. For lots of places, I can say "you know what to expect from the website", but for this place that's not quite true. But give it a try if you are in the mood for something a little different that is still more or...
Read moreThe most horrible service!!! Alert!* I went with a friend today for the broasted chicken. The only broasted chicken they had was legs and thighs. So I ordered the Philly Beef. I got the order and saw that it looked like a burger. I opened it and it was a fish sandwich. I brought it back to tell them the discrepancy and was shouted down like a child. "I repeated it to you twice and you said yes!" and exclaimed it again, horribly. I said that I don't eat fish and he continued to scream and not even offer a solution. My friend interjected and said he would take the fish sandwich. I have nothing against people with an accent, I have family, friends, etc. with accents, some thicker than others. He had an accent and I can see where Fish and Philly could sound the same when he repeated it? and I saw that the fish sandwich was on the receipt! But the manner in which he spoke to me was unreal and unnecessary! I ended up ordering the Philly again, which was good. We paid for it and my friend was the one who offered a solution. The tall, Middle Eastern guy, maybe the owner? offered no apology, no thank you for solving the problem, nothing! I will never go back there and I'll never suggest that place! A simple sorry or thank you would of satisfied me! I would be open to hear what he...
