Let me just preface by saying that I've worked in food service, so I understand how tough it can be when it gets busy. That being said, some things that happened were just absolutely ridiculous.
Came here with my family for Father's Day, which happened to align with NU Grad Weekend, so it might've been more busy than usual. Got seated quickly but after that, no one came to check on us. (Tables were sticky, as a side note) We were waiting for at least 20 minutes for someone to take our order, and someone only came because I had to wave them over.
Appetizer took a while to be served which is fine, but then the main courses were taking way too long. I called over a busboy to check on our food, and right after I asked about it, they bring almost everything over. That makes me suspicious that the food was ready to be served already but was just sitting there. However, we were still missing the ribs, which we once again had to ask about. Our waitress said that she was pretty sure she put it in, but she went to check. She came back and said that she put it in but the kitchen never received the order. Who knows what happened. She also asked if we wanted to do takeout for the ribs because it's going to take a while. Like no... we ordered it to dine in so why would we want to takeout?
Finally, we got our check and there was a charge for the mashed potatoes that we chose to replace the asparagus for the fish dish. We only had to choose a substitution because the waitress said that they were out of asparagus, so why would we be charged extra for a replacement we are forced to make without being told?? I asked about this and she said that she originally thought they were out of asparagus but 10 minutes after she put in our order, she found out they still had asparagus, and she wasn't sure if we wanted the potatoes or asparagus. If that's the case, why couldn't she come over and ask rather than sneakily upcharging us for something we didn't really want in the first place?! I told her that I should have been informed about this and she went to talk about it to her manager. She came back, and said something along the lines of "Luckily, my manager was super understanding of what happened and took the charge off." That wording was crazy because it made it seem like we were the ones being unreasonable and that it wasn't her own mistake in the first place.
Anyway, sorry this is long. Just felt super neglected the whole time, and even slightly insulted at the end. It's a shame since the...
Read moreI am so disturbed by this experience. I’ve been coming here for 7 yrs. I’ve won the ugly sweater contest. I went with my bestie as usual, we were seated in the patio, by the hostess. We arrived after 8pm on Thursday. The hostess explained when going to the bathroom and pointed to the side entrance that mask must be worn, but not at your table. By the way, our drinks were great our male server was friendly and we talked about the new things on the menu. Bathroom break time - I went thru the open door, past the great guy with the pride mask at the register, I then went to the door off the restaurant and headed to the left to go to the bathroom thru the open door off the patio to the door that adjourns the restaurant. There were employees sitting at the bar and the female bartender(made a great drink, that I didn’t finish, I left pissed) behind the bar and the manager(?) who btw gave me a unwarranted tongue lashing when I came out. He was standing there at the kitchen off the exit to the patio door (the exit door I was supposed to use) as if I was some derelict. As I approached he said Can You Read? I said what you what do you mean? He scoffed again “Can You Read!” You weren’t supposed to come through here. I said to him twice that the hostess told us that we could go through the entrance I came through for the bathroom and masks had to be worn. Also none of the employees him nor the staff at the bar stopped me or the guy at the register. He then said to me that they could lose their license, and I again explained to him this is the door and that I was told I could go through to use the bathroom finally the conversation ended because I walked away. Also there where was a table of guys behind us, where im sure one of them went to the bathroom. I definitely don’t want a visit to the bathroom, to close an business! I think the behavior was unwarranted on a loyal customer and that the staff needs direction, not the customer. Can...
Read moreHad high hopes for this place but the experience wasn't a great one. Wait was around 45 minutes so we went to the bar and ordered a couple of the signature cocktails. Despite the cool names the drinks were ordinary - not bad but nothing special. OK, I can live with that. Were seated in around an hour which I thought was pretty good, but the host offered us a table just inside the door, apologizing that this was all they had. I should have realized something was wrong right then. As soon as the door opened for the first time I knew this wasn't going to work - it was November and a cold blast of air rolled over the table. I asked the host if we could wait for a different table and was told that if we didn't want to sit there we had to go to the bottom of the waiting list, another hour and a half. If we were walkins in a place that took reservations, I'd understand. But they do not take reservations and we had already waited an hour so I think offering to wait longer for a different table is reasonable. It was more the host's attitude that bothered me. He wasn't even pleasant about it. Decided to shake it off and enjoy the food, which I've heard great things about, but ultimately I was disappointed there too. The meat board, which we got as an appetizer was great, but pretty much everything else had tasty-sounding ingredients and a nice presentation but ultimately tasted pretty ordinary. The space itself was cool and I'll probably give it another shot, since there seemed to be potential, but on balance it was...
