The restaurant has a kitchy name as do the menu items but the food and atmosphere were very good. Cozy interior that is a little dark and moody. There is a nice outdoor seating area. The cocktails were well made and beautifully presented. The menu includes some middle eastern items which seemed odd for an Italian restaurant. For appetizers we had the beats, zucchini chips and Mediterranean spread. Beats were very good. Some in my group thought the zucchini was a little oily but I thought it was delicious. Would have preferred a different sauce but liked the zucchini very much. The dip trio was okay. The hummus was creamy and tasty but the other two dips were just okay and the pita, while warm, tasted a little stale. We had a cavatelli special and the one on the menu. Both were very good. The cavatelli had a great chew to it, cooked perfectly and the sauce was rich and a bit tangy. We also tried Vinny’s pizza. It was tasty. All in all we enjoyed most everything we had and the pastas were served steaming hot which should be the norm at all...
Read moreWe discovered this place by chance, often passing by without realizing what a hidden gem it was. From the moment we sat at the bar, Antonio Jr. provided outstanding service—an excellent mixologist with great recommendations on what to eat.
We ordered two servings of meatballs, which were packed with flavor, and two portions of eggplant rollatini—light, thinly sliced, and paired with an exceptional sauce that reminded me of my own from my restaurant days. The fried calamari was perfectly crisp, full of flavor, and not at all greasy—just amazing all around.
The interior was recently renovated, and the online photos don’t do it justice. The bathrooms were immaculate, the kitchen spotless, and Chef Vinny was kind enough to greet us when I peeked in. Having owned a restaurant myself, I know what clean and high-quality food looks like—this place delivers on both.
Don’t hesitate to go. It’s a five-star experience...
Read moreMadonn’ Mia what a gem. We drove up from Stamford to meet friends for dinner and had no idea we were about to find a new favorite. They’re new to Fairfield, so none of us had been before, but this place blew us away from the second we walked in.
The atmosphere is incredible. True to the name, the menu and décor have that perfect blend of modern and authentic Italian, but done with a classy cinematic touch. It’s like stepping into a beautiful little hideaway you’d stumble upon overlooking a cliff in Puglia… except with a wink that says, “Sit down, relax, we’ll take care of you.”
The owner couldn’t have been more charismatic, greeting everyone like family. Antonio behind the bar? Forget about it. My innocent “just one drink tonight” didn’t stand a chance against whatever liquid gold he was mixing.
Gabagool is the real deal. The kind of place you tell your friends about “as a...
