The Beehive — Local services in Fairfield

I've had this heavy on my heart for some time and I need to get this out. Myself, my Fiance and my oldest daughter went into this store to look around a few weeks back. As soon as we walked in my fiance mentioned how nice it smelled and asked what was that fragrant. Mind you there were three or four women all behind the checkout area and Not one was smiling or greeted us after coming in. They all stood in complete silence and just stared at us. Finally, one of the women broke the awkward silence and told him it was a candle that smelled like that. She smiled and tried to be friendly. Meanwhile the other workers continued to stare at us and I felt that one of them were bothered that we were there. My Fiance said he had to have the candle and asked in a playful manor "How could he get one of those candles!" The lady came out her mouth and said "you just have to bring the candle up to the register and pay for it" but she tried to make it seem like it was a joke. I froze in shock that she said that. As if she assumed we might steal something and she was just giving us a friendly reminder for us to "pay" for our merchandise before walking out the store (we are black btw). I felt instantly disgusted & immediately wanted to leave but it completely went over my fiancé head and he was oblivious to what was happening around us. I stopped my daughter from looking around and I told her to stay close to me. My fiance grabbed two of the candles and we made our way to the check out. After we "paid" for our merchandise and turned to leave I see one of the women had made her way to the entrance and was now guarding the front door. I never even realized that at some point she went out of her way to leave the check out and went to stand in front of the doors incase we tried to steal something. I could not believe what I was seeing and what was happening. In 2025! Needless to say, ill never set foot in this store ever again. I didn't even want the candles after that but I didn't want to make a scene and make it even more awkward than it already was. PLEASE be careful going into this store if...

My daughter had a problem with the chairs and the couch that she purchased two years ago. The cushions and chair fabric have not held up. The owners of the store, after learning of the issues, have reached out to the manufacturer and are trying to get the issue resolved for her. I appreciate the fact that they are supporting their customers and are dealing with the issue rather than making us go directly to the manufacturer. Very good...
