Tiger Bowl- Southport, CT
Tiger Bowl is a small, intricately designed Chinese Restaurant located on the Southport-Westport border on Post Rd next to Michael's and Village Bagels.
The service is impeccable service is unmatched but the food is what takes this place to the next level. There are dozens of Asian Restaurants in the area, but the freshness, and unique combination of herbs, spices and cooking techniques makes Tiger Bowl stand out.
The fried chicken delights(IE Sesame, General Tso, Lemon, Orange, etc) are unlike your standard chinese fair. Unlike other restaurants the crispy fried chicken is crispy on the outside, but magically soft in texture on the inside. There is a certain fluff to the inside of the chicken, almost similar to a corn dog batter. The soups are perfect for a cold winter's day, and the beef dishes shine as well. My only critique is with the bonelesss ribs and spare ribs. Thought cooked nicely the sauce is a bit heavy and way too sweet.
In an area oversaturated with restaurants this is THE Go-To for delicious Chinese food for the whole family. They currently do not allow guests to dine in(thanks Covid) but are available for takeout and delivery 7...
Read moreDid they change owners since before Covid? This went from my number one go to Chinese restaurant to the bottom of my list. I will never go there again because they consistently and continuously show me that they no longer care about their quality or the taste of their food or their reputation. They get it wrong every single time. The the quality has dropped down from a restaurant I would’ve rated five stars before Covid to one star now and that one star is do not go. Do not get takeout.
They have been continuously wrong with every pick up item and every delivery item I have gotten for the last number of years. I kept giving them another chance hoping it was a one off- but that one off has become their regular. Most obviously they simply no longer care and I only go to restaurants that care about the food you’re eating I’m very very concerned about eating at a restaurant who very clearly doesn’t care. Like this restaurant...
Read moreI do not recommend Tiger Bowl Restaurant. It is fast delivery but it is expensive. I ordered Lo Mein $10.95, They charged me $5.00 for "fuel" and $4.00 tip. The delivery charge cost as much as the Lo Mein. I am Asian, 78 years old and lived in New York City for 20 years and I know good Chinese Food. Tiger Bowl has the worst SOUPS, especially the Wonton soups. The dumpling has no meat in it, just folded pasta. There are no vegetables, just 2-3 slices of carrots. The beef and chicken broth is not made from scratch, it just water with soy sauce in it. My laundry or dishwasher water probably tastes better. The Lo Mein has flavor BUT there is no vegetables or meat. The noodles were just tossed in oil and soy sauce. I am a resident of Westport for 30 years and I used to order from WESTPORT CHINESE TAKE OUT. Too bad they closed, they had the best Chinese food in their entire menu. STAY AWAY FROM TIGER BOWL...
