The Original Steaks and Hoagies - Fairlawn — Restaurant in Fairlawn

I have been to this location twice. The first time I went was when they first opened. Place was packed. Service was rushed and the food was undercooked. I can understand why...probably too much too soon. Fine. Went there again a week ago around late lunch time. Nobody in the place. So I figured this time would be much better. There was only one guy working. Didn't greet me. Ok whatever. Took a minute to look through the menu board. Unfortunately I could feel that he was getting annoyed (i don't know...I suppose he had other stuff to do with nobody else around in the middle of the day). Kept hovering and wouldn't stop. Could hear his heavy breathing. So I ordered a standard Original with everything. He did his thing as I waited. Then handed me my sandwich and I left. As I was leaving, I noticed how filthy the cooking area looked. Old food everywhere. Floor looked like a skating rink with grease. Hmm...maybe I should have paid attention. When I got back to work, I opened the bag. All the toppings and half the steak just fell out onto my desk. He never bothered closing the paper wrapping so half the sandwich was basically trash. I carefully put everything back that wasn't soiled and tried to rebuild the sandwich. Started eating and I immediately stopped. Steak had completely zero flavor. Tasted like rubber with grease. Toppings tasted old. Tried to add some salt/pepper and other flavoring from my office kitchen. Didn't make any difference. Tossed everything into the trash. Complete waste of a $9 sandwich. One thing is for sure. Not going...

I've purchased food several times at this restaurant, especially often when they first opened. I really enjoyed them! It wasn't until I started delivering food for DoorDash that I really realized how terrible this place is. Let me tell you, after seeing for myself firsthand, and hearing the stories from other Doordashers, what you are reading is the truth.

The owner straight up does not wear a mask, wash his hands after playing with his phone, or before preparing food. The few times I accepted an order from here, I was treated terribly from start to finish. Not to mention, there are about a dozen more people in my local food delivery groups who have had godawful experiences with him too. He is pretty much the only person who is ever working. No wonder.

The owner treats delivery drivers terribly. Considering this business has barely stayed afloat even before covid, the owner could learn some humility and have gratitude for the DoorDash orders and drivers which are most likely keeping the lights on. It's costs $0.00 to treat people with basic human respect.

Edited to add-I have never been banned from this establishment, nor does this person replying to me have absolutely any idea who I am. I refuse to take delivery orders from this business after what myself and other drivers experienced. If you scroll through all the owner's replies to his bad reviews, he does a lot of blaming the customers/drivers. I can't wait to see what replaces this business in...

I’ve never been here but I’ve driven past this place a lot in the past. One could say I’m a cheesesteak connoisseur and I’m really just a big foodie and I’m a very critical person about food. I will say this place definitely checked out. The vibe check: I went in there and it was all good vibes, the music wasn’t loud and over cumbersome, the cashier/cook was polite and kind and seemed like he was ready to rock when I walked in. The order was quick and straight to the point and it didn’t break the bank or hurt my wallet well, it was really nice. Is their partnered with this cake place and I ended up getting some lemon squares which also was really good to go along with getting my cheesesteak which was loaded up hot and fresh and the cheese was perfect with a side of vacant and cheese fries it was really good. I will say only caveat I have is I wish the gentleman would’ve asked me if I was getting a drink with my order. I had to stop on the way home and pick up a polar pop because I forgot to get a drink because I was very hungry and in the moment, looking for the best experience with food after I just left Charles, which had a 45 to an hour wait because I was really craving cheesesteaks.
