Up until now, I have spoken very highly of Rice Paper. I have ordered several times from the Fairlawn location. I usually order the Masaman curry with duck. The first time I ordered it, my takeout meal was great. However, yesterday, my takeout meal and customer service experience was very disappointing. I asked for extra sweet potatoes and carrots. I even tipped on my order so my final bill was close to $30. When, I got home, I was filled with excitement as I held off eating lunch in order to fully enjoy my meal. This was my second and last meal of the day. Much to my surprise and dismay, the food did not measure up to the quality that I had come to expect. The duck, of all things, was dry, overcooked, and stringy. I had never had dry duck before. But, I was hungry. So, I ate the meal but did not find pleasure in eating it. It's very difficult for me to get around as I will be I undergoing surgery in a couple of weeks. So, I called to share my experience. I was told that the owner would call me back. This was at 6:15 pm. I waited patiently but never received a call. So, today, around 1:30.pm, I called again to share my experience. I was asked by the woman on the other line what I would like them to do. I said I would appreciate it if my meal was made again. She said that only if I could bring back my food from yesterday. I told her that I ate it because I was hungry but didn't enjoy the meal. She said there was nothing they could do. So, I told her that I was not going to argue with her but that she had just lost a very loyal customer....
Read moreWent there for lunch with coworkers, nice decor and a good 'feel' to the place, would be good for a date. I got the Thai Style Basil, it was plated very well and had good visual appeal. Lunch portion was on the small side, but that was understood when we chose to go there, any review stating hearty portions is a complete joke, even our semi retired coworker who takes half of a burger and most of the fries from any of the local burger places home in a box for dinner finished his plate. I however found the food to be bland and almost tasteless, if not for the low level of spice that I was talked down to, I would only give 1 star. Which brings me to the service. I will give the wait staff props for being quick. But, our waiter was rude, borderline offensive, when I asked for '7' level of spice saying "you can't handle that, pick a lower number". Whether based on the fact that I had never been there before, or skin color, this level of disrespect was appalling and while I understand a lot of people will send things back that are too spicy, there are multiple ways to handle spice level that maintain a level of respect and will ensure that the proper heat level is ordered. The easiest way would be for the person taking the order to ask a followup question to the customer's answer, "(2) spice level is approximately the heat level of (sriracha/something fairly common), are you good with that level of spice?" Or to have the spice level scale on the menu. Needless to say, I won't be going back...
Read moreI researched this place briefly before going with family when they came to visit. Yes, the place is a bit hard to find.... For those who might be reading this and cannot find it, it is in the same plaza as the UPS store and A-Wok. First lets start with the feeling the restaurant gives off when you enter its doors. One of the reviews mentioned that they do not have the ability to serve beer, mixed drinks... etc etc etc... That was confirmed by the sign on the door. Not a deal breaker for me as I do not drink and honestly that should not be a deal breaker for anyone else. If your opinion of a restaurant goes down because they don't serve beer or wine..you probably have other things to worry about in your life. After entering the doors it's a nice place.. Simple yet Elegant. tables without tablecloth, but the tables themselves were cherry red. They had real cloth napkins with a simple but elegant design. It seemed like the workers did really care about the customers. I have been to thai places before but this place had dishes I had never seen before, unique flavors as well. That's not a bad thing. I always love trying something new and I found something I liked. Upon the next visit, I might ask them to tone down the spicy a bit more for me. I am not a big fan of spicy and they said they can do whatever spicy level you want. It was fast service, with good food. That pretty much sums it up....give this place a try and get the word out. They are rare find...
