I'd always wondered why there wasn't a Mexican restaurant in Fairplay. It never made sense to me. Finally, the wait is over! We had a wonderful dinner at Casa Sanchez last night. Loved everything about the experience and we will be back in a few days to try some more things on the very extensive menu. We ate outside-the owners have created a really lovely patio and part of it has a cover (which is great given the climate here) and a massive outdoor TV. The outdoor bar--looks to be almost finished in terms of construction--and it will be great addition. The service last night was phenomenal. Our server, Rodrigo, was wonderful--he was so attentive and friendly and the food came out of the kitchen very quickly and hot, even though the restaurant (indoors) looked to be very crowded. The complimentary salsas that came with the chips were delicious-I am a major tomatillo fan and so was very happy that one of the two salsas was a tomatillo salsa. (It would be great if, for an extra fee, the restaurant offered some cut vegetables to enjoy with the salsa or for an extra charge with the guac.). I had the chicken mole enchiladas-absolutely delicious. I love mole and can never resist any opportunity to order a dish with mole. My companion had a chicken fajita plate-he loved it.It was so ample and beautifully presented. We both subbed the refried beans for black beans as we don't like refried beans-and the black beans were delicious--not mushy-they tasted like real beans. We were too full to order desert--a pity--we will do better next time. Very much appreciated the free taste of house made tequila at the end of the meal-a very nice and gracious touch. Will be back to try some more dishes on this extensive menu so we can decide which is our favorite. The prices were also really good (as in very reasonable), which we really appreciate. Welcome to Fairplay to Casa Sanchez-so glad...
Read moreGood food, but the worst service I’ve ever had.
Honestly, the food was good—well-prepared dishes with great flavor. But everything else was a mess.
Service was incredibly slow from the moment we arrived. We waited over 30 minutes for our food, and the restaurant wasn’t even full. The waiter seemed completely uninterested, spent more time on his phone than attending tables, and on top of that, messed up two of our orders.
We thought we’d at least be able to leave quickly, but it took another 20 minutes to get the check, and to our surprise, they had added extra tip on top of what we had already left in cash, without asking or informing us. That was the last straw.
A disappointing experience. I’m not coming back and I don’t recommend it—no matter how good the food is, bad service and shady billing ruin it all. ———————————————————————— Hi, it’s me again. I wanted to mention that I wasn’t able to contact you through any other means, so I’d like to edit my review since I can’t respond directly to your message nor did I find any email to get in touch. Thanks.
Thanks for getting back to me. I’m not looking for any compensation since I really enjoyed the food and the portions were generous. I just wanted to be honest about my experience so you can improve. Unfortunately, the service didn’t quite match the quality of the food, which I thought was excellent.
I don’t have the receipt from my visit, but I remember the waiter was slim and fair-skinned. I’m only mentioning this so you can identify him and work on his behavior—not to cause him any trouble. I’m open to giving your restaurant another try in the future since the only real issue was the service, and I truly believe you’ve got a lot of...
