I never NEVER give 5 stars. This is the lone exception. We've eaten here once and will not likely eat here again. Not for a failure of this place but because it's about 900 miles away from us! All of the accolades about it are likely justified judging from our lone experience here.
The lunch sandwiches and wraps were wonderful and BIG. Service was quick and authentic (I positively hate fake enthusiasm and deference to customers). We had no problem with the food, and we usually can find something no matter where we go.
Some accident happened in the kitchen, I think, and this left 1 person to host, wait, cook, and bus a busy lunch hour. Sure, some things got missed, delayed, etc. But, this woman was, and I can't stress this enough, a force. That must have been an owner because nobody works that hard with such a positive attitude if they don't own the place.
I don't know if this place will survive as a restaurant... the odds are against ANY place much less one providing such good food, unique choices for the area and service as this one. BUT, I will bet on that woman. No matter what she does.
I'm against tipping in general and am "one of those" that tips based on service and not on the cost of the meal. If you're ready this, THAT is why I tipped you (YOU) so much and encouraged you as we left. Your efforts, in the face of a busy lunch crowd, problems in the kitchen/staff, etc and the way you handled it with professionalism is the exact purchase of tipping. If you ever find yourself needing help, In whatever you do in life, let me know. I'll invest in you. I wish I had 10 of you in...
Read moreWhat a great find! The place is small and only sits a few people, but the service is amazing!!!!!!!! How amazing you ask… I ordered a Ruben sandwich and fries. I am not a keptch gal, I like A-1 steak sauce with my fries. So I asked if they had some. Our waitress came back saying no, they did not, and I said, "That's okay, I'll take mustard." About 25 minutes later, when we were almost finished with the sandwhich and fries, a woman came to our table with a brand new bottle of A1 Steak sauce! After being prompted by my husband, she shyly admitted that she had run out to the store to buy it!! Oh my goodness! It's not like there is a nearby grocery store or Walmart superstore in that immediate area. She had to get on a jacket, it was barely 2° outside, get in a cold car, and drive at least 10 minutes to the nearest store and back. WOW, that is above and beyond customer service!
Now for the food. The hefty Rubin sandwich was amazing. The fries were perfect, warm, slightly crunchy, on the outside and yummy. My husband had ordered the mango fruit smoothie, which was a fabulous counterpoint to our sandwich and fries.
I will say, Mr. Burrito is expensive. The meal was almost $30 (if we had ordered another sandwich, it would have been closer to $48), but the customer service is so outstanding that it overshadows the cost and... it doesn't hurt that the smoothie, sandwich, and fries were good. 😊 We will definitely go back...
Read moreWow! Me. Burro cafe is excellent! I haven't written a review in quite sometime but visiting FairPlay, Co from TX Mr. Burro cafe deserved one. First off after spending 4 days in FairPlay I wish we had stopped by Mr. Burro cafe sooner and in fact my husband and mother both said we should of come here everyday. The staff was over friendly, welcoming and accommodating to where they allowed us to bring inside our two behaved Aussies. I don't know anywhere that would allow this especially on a colder winter morning. The food was excellent and I wish I had taken photos but my husband and I had the bacon breakfast sandwich on a croissant that came with potatoes and holy cow the sandwich was huge and could feed two people. My mom had the traditional breakfast burrito and she said it was very good and spicy which she enjoyed. The outside of Mr. Burro cafe may seem small but don't let the appearance fool you they have plenty of seating in the front part and the back part of the cafe where we sat with our pups. Overall I can't say enough great things about Mr. Burro cafe but what I can tell you is that it is a must if staying on FairPlay or just...
