Bob Evans — Restaurant in Fairview Heights

We decided to try the restaurant again, since it had been several months since our last visit. We had hoped the service would improve, since last time was pretty lousy. We stood there for over 5 min, while a server made it a point to ignore us, until I called over and asked if we could be seated. She made us wait a few more minutes (until someone we discovered later was a manager told her to seat us) and then she found us a table. It was moderately busy, but there were plenty of servers and about ten empty tables. The woman who seated us, Sonja, turned out to be our server. We ordered our food, with coffee and cocoa. Forty minutes later, as we observed tables that came in after us get their food, we were sitting with empty coffee mugs, I got up and asked our server if she perhaps wanted me to go cook our food. She got nasty saying they were backed up, so she'll "get it when it's ready, okay?" I advised her it would be nice then, if we could have more coffee, since our mugs had been empty the past 30 min. She refilled the cups, as though it was a real hassle. Fifty minutes (yes, I looked at the clock) we received PART of our order. My son didn't receive his bacon nor fruit, nor any syrup for his pancakes. My husband did not get his biscuits. My order of cod didn't come at all. They were out of cod. Although the server was advised they were out, she never told me until everyone received their food, then tossed a menu at me. She asked if I wanted something else. I told her I didn't feel like waiting another 45 min for my order. She screwed up her face and rolled her eyes which really ticked me off. A different server overheard and saw what happened and said she'd asked a manager to stop by. Manager came over to apologize and comped the meal. Several minutes later, she had to remind Sonja to come check on us. I reminded the server to finish filling my son's and husband's order. She turned and stalked away. My husband was in the middle of asking her for catsup and more syrup for my daughter's pancakes, since the little cup was half-filled when we received it, when she walked away as he was still speaking. The bacon for hubby and son was finally delivered, but barely cooked. My husband told our son not to eat it, since it was obviously still mostly raw. Our water glasses went empty, no catsup was ever delivered for the hash browns nor more syrup and the server avoided us, despite eye contact. Another server brought the missing items while Sonja hung out up front. Each time she left, it was only after I saw the manager approach her and point out a table that needed attention. Horrible, horrible service. Avoid Sonja as your server, at all costs. I thought service here couldn't get worse, since our last visit 6 months ago. And then they hired her and they achieved new lows of...

Nothing's pisses me off more or says "nah thanks I don't deserve a tip" then when I go to a restaurant and the waitress brings me my food then literally 2 minutes later brings my bill and says I'm just gonna place this here. Well thank u for determining my tip amount I'm gonna leave u.To add to that....I asked that my eggs and hash browns be browed a lil longer (as I hate egg textures and almost need them burned) they came out yellow I was like ok let's see how they taste, my mom commented on my gravy after the lady walked away and so we hadn't ate just yet I was pouring gravy on my biscuits when she came back and dropped the check. I proceeded to taste my eggs and they were still liquidy and potatoes weren't done, bacon was over done. She never came back to ask how it was or I would have told her. So I'm waiting for the manager to come back around and my mom picks up the check reading it, or trying to...the waitress comes over and says is everything ok, nope it's not she goes and gets the manager. I say I don't mean to sound rude but I asked for both my eggs and potatoes to be extra browned as I have issues with them and they aren't even done at all, they are still watery, and her omlet is definitely not sausage. My mom said we couldn't even tell the waitress bc she literally came to our table to take our order then to drop off the food and ticket. I said I don't mean to sound bad but I'd like a discount as I'm obviously not going to eat this. He then surprised me as I was waiting for yes ma'am we can offer a discount.... He said I am very sorry for the poor service Uve received by my staff today, i see that u clearly haven't even eaten half of ur meal, ur meal is on me today and I hope u allow us the opportunity to improve on ur next visit if u choose to come back. So as my experience was very VERY subpar, it was the manager who was a pleasure, still not sure...

We went in on a Friday evening because I don't really like crowds, and we wanted Breakfast. There was only one other bunch of customers sitting across the restaurant from us. Maybe just five or six people in the restaurant. The wait staff was very nice and kind, so I don't really knock the service. The food however was absolutely disgusting, poorly plated, and cold. Looked nothing like menu items (photos). I ordered that big breakfast with double meats. Photo had four sausage links and four slices of bacon. It came out and there were only three of each. Bacon was burned beyond crisp. Sausage was cold, as were eggs. Hash browns were still cold inside (almost like raw), and there was no crisp fry on the outer edges of the hashbrowns. No flavor or seasoning whatsoever. My wife ordered a smaller two egg breakfast with one meat and toast. Her plate looked almost the same as mine. The french toast was cold and flimsy. I know it is hard to get good help these days, but whoever was cooking this food needs to go back to their day job, because culinary skills is not their strong suit. Absolutely horrible food, and both plates were about $30. I should have taken my money to the casino instead, or just thrown it in the garbage can. I left and went to White Castle, who is always...
