I was very excited to visit Ulta for the VERY FIRST time since I just moved here from Europe, where certain (Make-up) brands are not available to buy (in store). I was not looking for anything in particular, but I was willing to spend all my coins.
I noticed that I was looking out of place walking around with no direction (I guess profiling people and following them around happens anywhere in the world, not a shocker). So I walked back to the front to grab a basket. It's safe to say I was starting to feel uncomfortable.
Nevertheless I still kept looking around because I could finally see the products I liked, before I bought them. One of your female employees (whose name I didn't catch) came up to me and asked if I needed help finding anything while she was scanning my basket to see if I had something in it, which was very rude but I let it slide.
Like I said, I wasn't looking for anything in specific but I was interested in a Fenty Beauty Concealer. So I asked her about it and she looked at me like I was stupid and said "We don't have Fenty Beauty here, this is Ulta" in an unfriendly tone. I told her I wasn't from here and that I didn't know that. Obviously she was not genuinely trying to help me.
I had one Item in my basket and decided to just check-out so I could leave. Ashley, the cashier who helped me, was thankfully very friendly and sweet!
I thought this was going to be a very cool experience especially since It was my first time, but unfortunately I ended up leaving the store uncomfortable and embarrassed. So I'll give 2 stars. They are both for Ashley...
I'll get over the embarrassment and I'll definitely try another Ulta location soon, but I won't be coming back to this one. Teach ALL your employees to be kind, it really does not...
Read morePlease add pictures of all the people in the salon! Also if your going to have hairdressers maybe hire a more diverse team and ones who can do all types of hair.
I came in for Mothers Day to treat my Mom to get her hair done. Imagine my surprise when being told they could not accommodate us. First. the online system is not updated for one, I had booked my appointment before the store opened apparently. I was told upon arrival that was a glitch. When I arrived at the salon the lady had sent another staff member to tell me they could not do my hair. I then told her it's not for me but my mom. The hairdresser came out looked at my mom's hair which is shoulder length and thick and told us for the look we wanted we could not achieve it i. 30 minutes. I was confused how we were going off time when were already late since I had to eait until the stored opened to come in at 10 am. While I appreciate the honesty it was still disappointing and just makes it even more important that if you have a team that can't work with everyone's hair type then maybe you need to evaluate how and what your team looks like.
My normal stylist was out of town or I would never have booked them to begin with but does not change the fact Ulta needs to hire a diverse staff...
Read moreI've noticed that the manager was walking around just watching CERTAIN people. I watched her watch these two Black woman, and she later moved on to watch someone else of the same race. She stood back, peeping at them. I understand that stores have people who frequently come in to steal, and that may be her loss prevention strategy, but she shouldn't just focus on Black people who are in the store. It wasn't that many of us in there, so I watched her watch US. Yes, she eventually made her way to me. Hey, manager, "That's called profiling!"
Another thing I've noticed about this store is whenever I buy something, no matter how expensive, all I get is the receipt, but the white customers get all sorts of goodies. They'll even tell them about free offers that they are entitled to get with their purchase, but never am I even told of any. Even if I ask are there any special offers with a product purchase, the answer is always no. I realize that certain products or services make you eligible for certain offers, but almost every brand has an offer connected to it at one point or another. I also understand that they run at certain times. I guess my timing sucks.
