this is the kind of place that makes me love the city of erie. i’ve lived here my whole life, never made any real plans to leave, and restaurants like this are exactly why. i somehow didn’t know it had existed til recently, and the reviews on here are why i knew i had to get in. we were immediately warmly greeted and welcomed in by several staff members, the menu was explained to us, and we immediately ordered agua frescas that hit the spot. their chips and salsa aren’t the kind you’d stuff yourself with by the basket-full at a texmex joint (though we were offered a second bowl of chips!), they’re instead homemade, more meaningful and so enjoyable. the red-colored salsa is spicy, but not overwhelmingly so, and the green salsa was mild but not without flavor. we had the steak tacos and burrito, and all were so. good. flavorful, fresh, and the kind of filling where we were left satisfied, but not overwhelmed. the tacos came with extra shells and i was glad to have them, as i was given such a generous amount of filling! we were visited throughout by the staff and enrique himself, and everyone was so gracious and helpful, without being intrusive or too-friendly. truly, the kind of experience i long for, always. we parked across the street, in the empty rite aid lot, and there’s some street parking around the neighborhood. this isn’t a glamorous place, but it’s an experience, enjoyable from the moment you walk in the door, and the exact kind of restaurant we all should be supporting. i can’t wait to return!

Why haven't I been eating here everyday? Enrique himself is so kind and generous, and our meals were amazing. I've been fortunate to travel and live in Mexico for several years, and this place would have lines down the block anywhere there. If you're looking for mood lighting and upscale decor, this isn't it...because they're too busy making homemade tortillas (which you can watch being made!). If you haven't tried one or have only had store-bought, think of it this way: it's as if you've only had week old wonderbread and suddenly someone gives you a baguette from Paris. These are the small things that make life magical! Side note: we appreciated that they were really, genuinely nice to our young kid - they fussed over her and Enrique had us all practicing our terrible Spanish. Also, that ladies room smells just how I want it to: LIKE BLEACH! It was the cleanest restaurant restroom I can remember (also nice for families!!). I don't bother to write reviews too often but our experience there today made me realize how long it's been, especially since Covid, since eating at a restaurant has been a fun experience - where people are nice to you (the guy even gave me a piece of his jade plant to grow, which he has propegated everywhere) - and where you genuinely enjoy your meal. Even fast food is so expensive right now, eating is kind of a chore. Take that same money and go have some tacos and horchata. Or, get a quesadilla with shrimp like my kid and be prepared to feed the masses!

#Taco #Tacos #GreatFood I thought I already posted a review, so this would be my second one in two days. I can’t speak enough for the food here, and the owners are awesome. This is not Taco Hell, so do not expect standard boring food. The first day I ordered togo. Since it was the first time I was there, I asked the chef for three tacos chicken, beef, pork. Absolutely delicious. They have three sauces on the side, pico, verde, red. All delicious and spicy. Second day, guess what? I ordered more tacos this time, pork Pastore. It was a pineapple flavor that fused with the pork & spice so well. And homemade fresh chips with pico de gallo. Regarding earlier reviews. I was actually standing in line with the, “No No No” reviewer, and I watched them give her samples of the food prior to her order. She seem to be really happy at the time. Not sure what happen when she left with all the food. But she’s crazy. And for the reviewer who said there was absolutely no flavor and taste, although he saw tons of spices, you must have Covid and your taste buds are gone. I will be back!! #Erie needs to embrace this restaurant with open arms.
