Came by after seeing a lot of hype on social media. It’s tucked into a small parking lot plaza — bright, colorful, and has about 9 tables. Staff was friendly, and I loved that they make fresh tortillas in-house.
I ordered 2 carne asada, 2 lengua, and 2 cabeza tacos. Presentation was cute, and there’s a salsa bar with various toppings. Limes were fresh and juicy — small detail, but appreciated.
Unfortunately, the salsas were watery and lacked flavor. No depth, no heat, and overall bland. Since salsa is such a key part of the taco experience, that was disappointing right away.
The tacos looked good, but the tortillas were a bit thick — not an issue if the meat had flavor, but sadly, it didn’t. All three meats were underseasoned and tasted mostly of salt. The carne asada looked gray and seemed like it came from a holding container — no char or sizzle. The lengua was tender but bland, and the cabeza had a bit more fat, but still lacked seasoning.
The horchata was refreshing, but tasted like a mix — possibly with nutmeg or artificial flavor.
We were excited to try this place, but left disappointed. There’s potential, but flavors need serious improvement — especially the salsas and meats. I’d recommend more seasoning, better searing on the meats, and some roasted salsa options. Right now, everything just tastes flat. It wasn't what we were expecting at all Hope they're able to improve on these. I would give it another chance...

I am originally from east l.a and have spent a majority of my life back and forth from Mexico, I moved to Portland some years back and haven't been able to find a place that reminds me of home but Los Tinos definitely is THAT place for me. The food is always fresh, the salsas don't hold back, and the staff treats you like family. Don't expect your typical "mexican" food from Portland be ready for true bold vibrant flavors with a homey feel. Los Tinos has become mine and my family's go-to whenever we want true Mexican food. Not to mention the prices are extremely affordable for the amount and especially quality of food. Absolutely...
