Be in the know!
This one is easy to drive by or miss. Plus, who's looking for a hot dog stand?
All the better for you. Get in get out. Everyone in there was a regular. Not to mention the carryouts. Dietz & Watson beef dogs, come in (regular)All American or Jumbo. They also serve sausage, turkey, salmon, chicken, and their smoked pork meat. Gluten free choices available, as well as vegetarian. Dogs are served on a stout but soft roll thats grilled. A Mecca of toppings are ready, or choose from house dog recipes.
So here's the experience. We were immediately greeted by the owners Mike & Donna, who told us about the offerings and the establishment. Couldn't be nicer folks. Making us feel as welcome as the regulars they chatted by name. You want a dog. After all, they should be specialists. Then you smell that smokey flavor wafting about. You can't help it. You want to try it all. "Pork & Dog please". Now you've ordered, and stare at the menu in long moments of second guessing your choice. For me it was the sausage, turkey club, and salmon. Then a smoked salmon on rice with grilled veggies went past me to another table. The woman was so nice offering me a bite. They eat there twice a week. Luckily mine came before I succumbed. The dog did not have that snap from the casing I love. Maybe the sausage does. Good flavor, good bun. The pulled pork was cooked perfectly. My taste found the house made bbq sauce too sweet, but that's just not my flavor. I prefer deep smoke spicy. Mike kept handing us items to try. I made my way to the counter to pay, only to discover, that's where you order first. I would have seen the specials board with the smoked salmon special. It was so nice to just nice to get outside of the Falmouth crowd. There will be a next time. We're regularly in Falmouth for curling. We even spoke...
Read moreI want to give a quick shout out to Doggz & Hoggz for their fantastic customer service, in particular by a staff member named Mike. I was headed somewhere else to grab some food today and drove past Doggz & Hoggz and did a U-turn when I realized what I needed was a hot dog. Well, I actually ordered two hot dogs and a Coka Cola, which I realized also came with two small sides. A little while after that, Mike came over to offer me a fresh cornbread muffin, which I was happy to accept. I asked Mike a little bit about himself, and he was happy to share. He asked me a little bit about myself, and I ended up telling him basically my entire life story, including how I met my husband and literally the birthplaces of all four of my young children. Mike shared that his coworker, Jill, is a like sister to him and that the management there treats him like family. Along the way, the ice cream machine made a gurgle sound, and then the next thing you know, Mike also brought me some pineapple soft serve (I think?) ice cream. A little while later my multiplying leftovers were boxed up for me, and I thanked Jill and Mike for their...
Read moreReminiscent of a hot dog diner, you can expect fast, high-quality barbecue whenever you stop in. I make it a point to visit whenever I am in the area and ask about a special as they often have something unique that never disappoints! While you can't get $1.50 hot dogs with the works, what you do get is a hot dog that is bigger, fuller, and a twist, such as cranberry relish or other great taste with homemade sides to boot!
It's Doggz & Hoggz, and if I can sing their praises about an often overlooked barbecue classic, you know they don't hold back on their pulled pork, brisket, and more. Mike loves his sauces (I believe he makes his own BBQ sauce), and he can recommend the sauce you need to bring you meat and/ or sandwich to the next level. If I had the cash to call up their food trucks, I'd have them run my...
