Update: after our original visit, the owner reimbursed us for our meal and sent coupons for a complementary meal which was very gracious but also smart because we definitely would not have been back. This time we tried breakfast instead, and I am pleased to report that the breakfast was quite good. This was one of only two times in my life that my medium fried eggs were actually medium and not runny, so that was awesome! The sausage links were by far my favorite part, cooked perfectly and flavorful. The bacon was also very good, and the breakfast options were a great value. I will stay away from dinner but we will probably be back for breakfast again!
Original: Atmosphere: extremely depressing and made me sad just to be there. Decor tries to be retro but is actually just drab.
Service: as a former server I will always give 20% for just basic service but this was questionably bad. Me: “what kind of fish is the Friday fish special? Is it cod, or what?” Her: “I know it’s fish...I can go ask what kind?” She wasn’t trying to be silly, she’s totally serious. More I won’t type here, but this poor girl did not know the menu at all.
Food: the most disappointing part, because I will deal with bad decor and bad service if the food was excellent. Perhaps it’s my bad for going to a Denny’s type place for dinner, but wow. My fried walleye was a mushy mess, and my boyfriend’s baked beans were some of the worst food I’ve ever put in my mouth. Tartar sauce was this very off-putting color and something definitely not right.
Overall our bill was $29 and change which was about twice what the food was worth. I honestly just want others to think twice before going here, unless you already know something they have that’s good. I for one will be...
Read moreHad been there before. Felt a lil uncomfortable. Staff relations were sketchy. Being a black/native American. I kinda thought nothing of it at first. Through conversations with other African Americans and Native Americans, I heard the same word used. PREJUDICE. Went there with a good friend of mine who was white. He was treated with great respect, fast service and all. I on the other hand 👎. We both noticed. Months later I visited after coming from the doctor with my 11yr old daughter. I explained to the waitress that I want the salad bar witch evolves getting up and down going to get your plate several times and needed to be closer because of my leg problem ,I'm partially paralyzed, she ignored me completely and literally placed us in the farthest seat from, in a booth which I asked for table and chairs because ease of mobility. Again I asked, this time she through the menus on the table and said we'll good luck now I will have and extra long waiting time, soured her face, turned her nose up at myself and my daughter, then went to another waitress and started belittling us and they both looked our way, laughed and said, "so just let them sit there. I told the manager what happened and then left. It was literally about the 11th or 12th time I've heard the negative situation in relation to race. My final = This is thee most prejudice place I've ever visited in Fargo ND. If you are Black, or Native Indian, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. It treats its White race accordingly and Black's and Indians like 🗑 trash. This place needs to be reported. It has a history since opening of treating minority people second or third rate. PREJUDICE! PREJUDICE!...
Read moreMy wife and I along with our daughter in law and a friend stopped here to get dinner before going to see our son at the hospital right around the corner. We figured it wouldn't take more then 15 minutes to get our order. Boy were we wrong, it took nearly 45 minutes to get the order which we had them make to go as it was taking so long. The waitress obviously had almost no experience at all. She came back to our table 4 or 5 times with questions about our order which should have been asked when we placed our order, such as the type of dressings we wanted on our salads, did we want grilled, or fried chicken on our chicken sandwich, what kind of potatoes did we want for a side dish? Then when she came back to ask my daughter in law a question about her meal and she was told the she was in the restroom the waitress had the audacity to go to the restroom to ask my daughter in law the question rather then waiting the 2 or 3 minutes until she was finished. When we finally got our order to go and were paying for it my daughter in law was separating it for each car only to discover that they order was WRONG. We ended up with 5 sandwiches, 1 taco salad, and no side salads for the 2 meals that had side salads. Would I recommend this place? Yeah I would recommend this place reevaluate their commitment to serving the community as they sure as hell did a LOUSY JOB serving us! Probably the worst dining experience I've had in close to 10 years. And I sure as hell won't be...
