Nova Eatery & Supper Club — Restaurant in Fargo

Walked in, it wasn’t busy but still stood there about 5 minutes before being noticed at all to be seated by the 2 waitresses or the gentleman sitting at a table possibly on break. Once seated we did get water right away. Decided to share an appetizer and main dish with a side since we were not all that hungry. Started out with the relish tray. Very disappointing to say the least. It was a bit too spicy for me but I still ate some of everything and that is not what made it disappointing. Slices of carrot, celery I would expect to find in a soup or chili all pickled, the deviled eggs held their own but that’s about it. Tuna to put on crackers (nothing special) Pappa dew peppers filled with hummus. Just not at all worth it. The prime rib was great! No complaints there and the au jus up to par. We got a side of hash browns and I’m not sure if it was a bad hash brown day or they are suppose to have that burnt over cooked taste to them. Definitely not good at all. Staff was really nice and attentive so it pains me to write this, but not a good experience. Ordered the catfish which had me really excited considering I grew up on Cajun food. Now I wasn’t expecting the best, but I wasn’t expecting the worst fried fish I’ve ever had. Not only was it hard as a rock (kinda burnt but more-so blame the coating) but there was no flavor at all, and the catfish itself tasted way off (frozen?). Wildly overpriced considering how bad it was ($26 w no side is crazy). The sauce it came with was good- had to smother it just to eat. Their take on slaw was okay too but an unusual pairing, plus the liquid made the fish a soggy mess which honestly kind of helped soften up the rock...

Nova is absolutely wonderful! We had such a fantastic experience. We tried the halibut special, the pickle plate, hash browns, and collard greens, along with their complimentary bread, and every single dish was phenomenal and totally satisfying. Everything was so delicious! The food was truly a highlight – the fish was cooked to absolute perfection, and the flavors of each dish were unique and executed perfectly.
