Dexter’s Barbecue in Farmington has some standout qualities, starting with the exceptional customer service. The three young ladies working up front were absolutely awesome — friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to offer solid recommendations. They really know the menu inside and out, which made ordering a breeze.

One important tip: get there early. By the time I arrived later in the day, they were already sold out of quite a few items, which was a bit of a letdown. Luckily, I still got to try the Cajun brisket loaded fries and a half rack of ribs. The brisket fries were definitely the highlight — loaded with perfectly cooked brisket and full of flavor. The ribs, on the other hand, were just okay. They were tender, but lacked that deep smoky flavor you’d expect from a good barbecue joint. Maybe a different wood or longer smoking process would’ve made the difference.

The restaurant itself was very clean, neat, and welcoming, with a warm, cozy vibe and plenty of seating available. It’s a solid spot with great service and potential, but just needs a little more consistency when it comes to the barbecue itself. I’d give it another try — just a little earlier in the...

We were at Dexter's BBQ eating supper. The boys ordered 2 plain cheeseburgers. We nicely told the lady that brought our food to us that the burgers were supposed to be plain. They had mustard, pickles, and onions on them. She takes them back to the kitchen AND NOT EVEN A MINUTE later she returns with them. All they did was wipe the burgers off. There was mustard still on the burgers. I nicely took them up to the counter and asked them to remake them, not just wipe them off because we ordered them plain. I was waiting by the counter and watching to make sure they were done correctly. The same lady said she would bring them out. I very nicely said that it was okay I wanted to make sure they were redone and not just wiped off. When they were completed she handed them to me. I said thank you THREE times. Never did she acknowledge me! However, she did roll her eyes at me as I was walking away! First let me start by saying I have worked in fast food and I have waited tables...that being said, when someone orders a PLAIN cheeseburger that is what we wanted. I have NEVER just wiped something off a burger and try to reserve it. That is not how you...

What a disappointment. Dexter BBQ once upon a time was decent food at a decent price but tonight was an under performance on all points. First, they were out of the cold ribs we normally order, this happens sometimes, not a deal breaker, we just ordered the hot ribs, except they weren't hot, they were cold and dried out. Next we ordered a pound of brisket, it was warm, mostly fat, and a pound turned out to be two slices. A pound of smoked turkey was a ball of deli style turkey, that was dry but it was warm. Finish the meal with bbq beans, cold, green beans warm but smashed in the bottom of the bag, and potato salad. $110.00 for a family of 4 which is typical of today's dining out expense, but this was underwhelming at best. As a final insult, I asked for bbq sauce, for two racks of ribs, a pound of turkey, and a pound of brisket we were given two of the little to go containers and told we would have to pay for additional sauce if we wanted more. Typically, I smoke my own when it comes to bbq, but every once in awhile circumstances lead me to buy bbq from a local store. Tonight was awful, and extremely expensive for the sad meal...

I came into this establishment and I was looking over the menu with my family of 4 and ordered food I tried to get your pint sized sides for sale and they told me they are to go that we weren't allowed to dine in and eat them which I've been coming here for over a year never has this statement been told to me and I said why we paid for it why can't we dine in and eat it I have several times before they preceeded to tell me it wasn't allowed so we order anyway and tried to find a seat which all the tables were dirty and had food and liquids all over I had to clean the mess before I could sit and eat. Finally got food and it is dry and without taste. The only food that was remotely hot was my 2 year Olds food which was a grilled cheese and fries, my son ordered a cheeseburger and cajun fries, my wife and I ordered bbq pulled pork.

BAM!!! Holy mackerel this place was amazing. I drove an hour out of my way to eat there again. The ribs are to die for. The potato w bbq is fantastic. I live in kc and will figure a way to get back. Biggest fan here !!! Oh the reason for the two photos of the paper towels. One before one after. A mess made in heaven. The amazing flavor of the ribs necessitated the liberal use of sauce. However the ribs did not need a dang thing. I’ve had gates, jack stack, Dave’s, smokin guns, Bryant’s… best ribs hiding in a little place called Farmington. !!!
