We went here over a week ago and I just can’t stop thinking about it. We were looking at getting a combo plate with chicken and catfish but for a couple dollars more you can get all-you can eat fish, chicken, and shrimp with all the fixins. I asked the waitress how many sides we could choose because it didn’t say on the menu. She said, “anything you want.” The baked beans were so good! Probably the best baked beans I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The flavor was there for sure! The chicken was delicious. The catfish was moist on the inside, crunchy on the outside, thick, and no nasty dark spots on the inside like you get with some other catfish. I liked that they catfish was farm-raised and was surprised but how clean it tasted. The cole slaw had a nice fine shred, was creamy, and delicious. I’m not a huge fan of fried corn but being that you can get any sides you want, I figured why not give it a shot. It had good flavor and even a hint of spiciness but not overpowering. I know I mentioned the baked beans already but they were so good I have to say it twice! I hear the kettle sauce is fantastic. I am a sauce guy. Love sauces and dipping everything. But the food was so good I forgot to ask for it. The fried pickles were good too! The people at work were ranting about this place and telling me I have to go there. Now I see why. Would highly recommend! They served us family style and reorders were quick. And they’ll let you take home a Togo box with your all-you-can-eat. You can’t beat it. If you’re traveling and in the area, you have to stop here for a good meal. When you ask someone from a neighboring town where to go for catfish, they’ll all tell you where the closest place is………..and then they’ll proceed to tell you about Catfish Kettle as if they were a proud parent and this was their child. Worth the drive for sure! Also, they have pies and like 7 different kinds of cheesecake. We were too full for dessert but they looked good. I know I didn’t mention the other sides but EVERYTHING was good. Stop reading and just drive out there. You...

We drove over 60 miles to check this restaurant out after seeing that they offered an all-you-eat option for $19 per adult and $8 per kid. Initially thinking you could only choose 1 meat. We were surprised to learn that you get Catfish, chicken and shrimp served to you on one large platter; family style. Along with 4 sides of your choosing. My end of the table, we ordered Fried Okra, Fried Corn, Baked Beans, and Wedges as the sides. Not wanting to do a refill of the okra, which was good, we substituted it for some green beans. They were delicious. Smokiness from the bacon with onions added a lot of flavor to the green beans.
The catfish was top tier! When you don't have to add hotsauce to the fish to eat it, that says a lot. It was fried and seasoned to perfection in each batch that was brought to the table.
The chicken, however super juicy, lacked in seasoning and the breading was like it was cooked in old grease. Good but could have been better.
The Fried shrimp was ok. I'm not a big fan of fried shrimp in general. I prefer either grilled or saute. I still had my share of it though. I made sure I got my money's worth.
Since there was 12 of us, I worked solely with the waitress to slow down any confusion of who was with whom and what they ordered. She was a peach. As far as the atmosphere goes, we were a little bunched up, but that was to be expected since it's not a really large restaurant. The bathrooms are small and can't accommodate enough people. So there was a line multiple times.
All in all, I'd give the restaurant an 8 out of 10. I will definitely return with a new group of folks that love catfish as much as I do. I really want to try the cheesecake that I didn't get a chance...
Read moreMy husband and I have been meaning to try this place every time we’ve driven through the area. Finally got to stop today. We walked in and placed an order to go.
My husband got the catfish with Mac and cheese. I got the fish sandwich with mixed veggies and Mac and cheese. Then we got some fried chicken strips for our yellow lab whom was patiently waiting in the truck.
They do the fish great, but you can’t base your entire restaurant on great fish. The mac and cheese was terrible. Tasted like horrible school food. The veggies were the mixed steamed veggies, but the cheap kind. No butter or salt on them, nor was there any in the bag or offered. He finished his mac and cheese only because he was hungry. He said it brought back bad memories of when he was a child and spent 4 years in a group home. I took 2 bites of both the veggies and mac and cheese and just couldn’t do it. I was done.
The chicken looked and smelled terrible. The look and smell was the fact that the oil hadn’t been changed in who knows how long. My dog ate it, but that doesn’t say much.
The cashier told us it would be a 10 minute wait, it took 20 minutes. Could’ve been the kitchen taking a bit even though they weren’t even really busy.
We left and something told me to check the bag for silverware and napkins. Nope, none. Good thing we didn’t pull out and get back on the highway yet. I walked back in and the girl giggled and said “what’d I forget?” I said “silverware and napkins.”
We will not be back, was not impressed at all. Again, the fish was great! The sides - they are severely lacking.
On another bright side, hush puppies were good. So they’ve got 2 good things going for them. Not worth...
