Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Fayetteville

Came right before close to grab dinner for us and the kid, because I work closing shift at my own job. We had to wait 30 minutes to even receive our food! We paid extra for triple bacon burger, that didn’t even have three Pattie’s. Paid extra for cheese fries, that we didn’t get. The fries were trash. We called, 4 minutes after close. Only 2 minutes after leaving the drive thru. The man we spoke to, I believe he was the manager, did not sound like he cared at all. He said we can come another day for “cheese sauce and fries” and didn’t care about anything else my husband had to say.

Let me add, when dennys messed up our Uber eats order, their manager was willing to drive to our house after close at 1 in the morning to personally deliver our food to ensure we had a good experience.

It just shows that the restaurants, and the managers, that do care WILL do what it takes to make things right by their customers. After we get our replacement order (hopefully correct) we will never be coming back to this location again. Edit to add: went back the following day, the same manager we dealt with the night before was there and was rude again. He replaced two of the items that were on our order last night, but since we “got” everything else he wouldn’t replace anything else. Even though the non cheese fries we did get last night had been cold and disgusting, he wouldn’t replace those either. When my husband asked to speak to someone above him he said he’s the only manager working there, that there is no one above him. Steak and shake needs to do better by their customers, and hire some much better...

HELPFUL TIP AT THE BOTTOM. Foods usually good if not cold. Once got a warm salad cause they left it under the warming lamp. But. The customer service is always the worst. They are rude and argue with you. You ALWAYS have to flag someone down for refills or anything. They leave the check as soon as they drop off your food- as if making an excuse to not check on you again. Not a place worth tipping at... Never do. Never had a good server here before. Bentonville location is a tiny bit better.

Helpful tip: if they ask you to pull forward at the drive thru tell them that your ok sitting there. Expecially if no one is behind you. I know from personal experience that it's not allowed and if an audit saw that, the employee would be fired. It's cause stores are rated for how fast they are and the records are counted for how long a car is at the window. They are moving you so they can take their time. This goes for every place except McDonald's (at least for now) how they have designated parking for meals. If they don't have that, they are being jerks. Don't fall for it. It's so they can take their time on your food instead of doing their job. This has happened to me tons and I've worked food for years. As well as many of my friends. :) Hope this helps....

If I could rate it no stars, I would! This was our first time to try Steak n Shake so we drove thru after my daughters dentist appt next door. We ordered a regular burger and the portabella burger, 2 cheese fries, a grill cheese and a milk shake. (In drive thru) The fries were barely warm and a lot were hard. (Cheese was in a container on side so no way of pouring over fries to try and soften them.... Not how I expected them to come) The portabella burger and reg burger were a BIG disappointment! They both reminded me of the value burgers at McDonalds, size wise. They were squished flat, small, and greasy as heck! So BAD I ate two bites and threw it away. It tasted like grease and that is all. I am not a picky eater either!!! But this was terrible. I brought the reg burger home to my husband and he could not believe how crappy a burger it was too. He ate four bites before throwing it away. I spent $24.97 and threw it all away, but the grill cheese and shake. (Even the grill cheese was messed up, but my daughter ate it as she had to get back to school) They did not melt the cheese at all and barely toasted it.
