Stumbled across a great breakfast joint in Fed Way!

I feel this place would go a lot smoother if they had servers. I’m not going to tip anyone where I have to stand in line and find my own chair, plus order my food and pick it up. Place needs to be remodeled. To wait for your to go order 35 to 40 mins is ridiculous. Service is extremely slow. Half the order came out and then was told the other half would be out in 20 mins. So guess half would be cold and the other half warm? Took order 1 hour and 5 mins from time I was told 35 to 40 mins. Food wasn’t that great. Is a hole in the wall place, which I’m love these places. I started to say the staff was friendly but now I would have to say half are the other half is short with you. So guess it would be hit and missed. I would like to point out that Sierra was the most polite and kindness of anyone there. She get one STAR alone or my review would have been no stars if I could. Others felt like you were inconvenient them and putting them out. Sorry I was there paying for service. I won’t be back as my time is worth so much more. I’d rather to go to Safeway and buy something from the bakery or their deli. Ordered a muffin while I waited and every bite I would take it would just crumble apart. Top it off the order was wrong when I got home. To go orders always seem to go to the front at any restaurant as anyone knows the customers already in aren’t going anywhere. Extremely slow service!!!! When I got home with food, I found it all burnt. Pictures say a thousand words.

Old review at the bottom of this update. UPDATE: Poverty Bay must have hit the poverty line with our meals. 2 weeks ago the portion sizes and quality was amazing. This morning, we came back and it was like they were trying to limit our portion sizes. We ordered 4 of the same dish and it looks like you made one dish for every 2 orders. I’m not complaining about the QUALITY. The QUANTITY leaves a lot to be desired. If you look at the photos below, you can definitely see there is LESS food per dish vs. 2 weeks ago. In addition, my wife said her cappuccino was mostly foam. What happened Poverty Bay? Previous review: Wonderful cafe tucked away from everything. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered a hot mocha and a cold mocha, and it didn’t disappoint. Just enough coffee and chocolate mixture. For food, my daughter ordered the 1/2 BLT. The bacon was very flavorful and the sandwich was substantial if you don’t want a big meal. I ordered the corned beef hash breakfast plate. The corned beef mix DID NOT come from a can. The chunks of potatoes, peppers, onions, and corned beef were excellent with the eggs and side of toast.

I have been here about 4 times now, and can report that the food is good, the coffee is good, but oh my goodness be prepared to WAIT WAIT WAIT. Just had breakfast there this Sunday morning about 10:30 and the average time for breakfast to be prepared and served to your table is 30 minutes. And it wasn't just my breakfast, it was the other tables as well. I was watching and timing. I have experienced this before so I make sure I am not in a hurry if I want to go there. Also if you order a latte it is likely to be made and then sit on the counter forever getting cold because you won't hear them call you or say in a loud enough voice to hear that it is ready. This happened to me my first visit and I saw it happen today to a guy at the table next to me. Now I just order regular coffee and they serve it to you right away (no refills though!). Also I have now ordered bacon and eggs twice and both times they forgot the bacon. The first time I thought maybe I hadn't said it, but twice in a row? I don't think so. Of course they tried to tell me I didn't order it, but I insisted that I had ordered it because I knew I did, because the last time they forgot it today I MADE SURE I ordered the bacon and repeated it twice just to make sure. I also heard the gal taking the order repeat "bacon" aloud and key it into the register. So they did bring me the bacon eventually. Good food but poorly run and managed and very...

Even if you leave a gratuity, the staff are a bit choleric and try to avoid eye contact with you as much as possible so they don't have to answer your questions. The server didn't say much beyond "here's your food" and didn't ask if anything else was needed, and would later avoid our table (possibly fearing questions). I had scrambled eggs with French toast, bacon, and hash browns. Everything tasted okay except for the eggs, which tasted like soap. When I approached the cashier about this issue, she fled very quickly so I had to wait to speak with someone on the other end of the restaurant. Upon telling the other server that my eggs tasted like soap, she said she'd "tell them about it" with a look of mild confusion/frustration (which is how I felt; eggs aren't supposed to taste like soap, at least not the kind of eggs I normally consume). They seem to be standoffish and irascible when their manager isn't there, so I'm assuming this happens often. Overall, I experienced less-than-average service and I kinda regret leaving a gratuity. I hope that it's just morning grumpiness and that they don't treat any later customers this way. Oh, and the music choice was awkward; it sounded like whoever was in control of the playlist was trying to make the dining experience as uncomfortable as possible. I wouldn't recommend this place anymore based on...
