Happy Dragon — Restaurant in Fishers

When I arrived it appeared they had not seen my order. I had to wait at least 15 minutes past my pickup time. The woman at the counter said 5-10 minutes and grabbed the ticket from the register to bring back to the kitchen. Not an issue. Received food and left. I was in no rush.

The lady working followed up with me throughout the waiting. Having just gotten off work, I arrived near to close, but placed my order 30 minutes prior. As I was waiting, I got to look around and saw the place was generally pretty dirty. To be fair, it was at the end of the day, but a few things stood out to me. The hoods in the kitchen didn't appear to be very clean and I was not entirely sure food was being prepared with gloves. There was a lot of dust caked on the fans in the waiting area. The floor was dirty but can't really do much about the snow.

When I got home to eat, the hot and spicy chicken didn't really taste much like chicken, but rather mushy bits of fried scraps tasting burnt oil and fish. The sauce itself was good, but overall the dish was not appetizing. The chunks of material sort of dissolved in a weird way when trying to eat them. I am not a picky person and will generally eat food of any quality, but this was almost inedible. White rice was the best part of the meal. The dumplings were okay (probably better fresh, but reasonably priced for the quality). Their dumpling sauce was very good.

I had ordered from this location in the past and had a good experience. Their sauce flavors are very good but the quality of meat was questionable. Fish taste may be attributed to old oil and using the same cooking equipment for fish and chicken. Maybe it was because it was so close to closing time that the quality was so poor. Maybe should have been warned by 3.5 stars but didn't see that until I came to write this review. They could be good, but maybe avoid...

I order from them a lot as they are the only chinese place that delivered to my home. So unless I want to leave the house, this is the only place I can stay home and be lazy with. With that said. I know they usually take a long time. After so many years the usual delivery time is 45 mins to one hour. I am cool with that as I know before I even call I am going to be told 1 hour. Tonight I called. 6:49 pm. I had stuff going on. Lady said about 1 hour to one hour 15 minutes. I was cool with that. That is why I called early. Fast FORWARD to 8:52pm. (2) hours later.. I call and I am like where is the food??? They tell me It's cooking now!!!!!!. I am not gonna cancel at this point, but I sure as hell better get something out of this or someone is not getting a tip. Not happy at all. (2) hours for chinese food is absurd. By the time it gets here it will be two and half hours or maybe more. I have no idea but I am typing this at 9pm. The food is good. Pricing is OK. I will go elsewhere If I need to pick up or eat out. Personally I prefer Dragon House and their Buffet. But when you're doing the closing paperwork on your home and you know it's gonna take about an hour to sign 200 sheets of paper, A well timed Chinese delivery was what I was hoping for. I don't do a lot of reviews but I had to take the time to do this one. My family ordered from here frequently before I ever checked online. The low scores everyone posted are shocking and probably out-dated. One guy even rated 1 star because the sauce spilled on his Mercedes seat. Seriously? Everyone knows you set a bag of saucy food on the floor mat! Rating 1 star for that is silly. Most people complain about slowness. I've never had a problem with this maybe because I don't do delivery--I pickup my food, typically after getting my daughter from gymnastics at nearby Devaus'. Even better, whenever I order online it's a great experience: I place my order, set the time and when I go to pick it up, it's ready. The food is good and that's what really matters. This seems to be a family-run business and they do a great job. They absolutely don't deserve 3 stars. Whatever timing issue they maybe used to have seems to be fixed. So if you're concerned about the negative reviews, perhaps just order online and pickup your food and you'll be fine. Today, I placed an online order around 10:30am, selected 11:00a for the time, in the comments, I said, "hopefully, it can be ready no later than 11:15a" and when my wife got there at 11:05, it was ready and we were eating with my dad on his 11:30a lunch break.
