On our visit today at noon, my party and I had an uncomfortable experience. The restaurant was not particularly busy, with around ten tables occupied. However, our server, Grace, took almost ten minutes to initially approach our table for drink orders. We ordered two orange juices, a strawberry iced tea, and a coffee. After a 15-minute wait, during which Grace attended to other tables, she returned with incorrect drinks.
We reiterated our order for the missing coffee when placing our food order. However, Grace seemed to forget about our request again and began assisting a newly seated table. We waited patiently, assuming that she had simply overlooked our request. However, even after seeing her standing idle and then serving another table, our coffee and food were still not served.
The table seated behind us, who arrived after us, had already received their meals and drinks. When our food finally arrived, it was apparent that it had been sitting for a while. The eggs were dry, and the butter on the toast and pancakes was nearly fully melted. To add to this, the coffee was served when we were almost done with our meal, almost an hour after we were seated.
The disappointing experience extended beyond the service. When I inquired about a military veteran discount, the hostess responded rudely, rolling her eyes, and stating in a dismissive tone that she did not know what they do at this location. Another staff member did step in to apologize and applied the discount after verifying my veteran status.
However, the most distressing part of this experience was learning that we were deliberately mistreated because of a misunderstanding about a past bill. We were accused of not having paid during our visit on August 12, 2023, despite having paid through the app. The accusation was not only baseless but also led to an unfair and unpleasant dining experience.
I believe in the quality of IHOP's service and food, which is why I have been a loyal customer for years. However, this experience has left me and my party extremely disappointed and disheartened. I feel it is my responsibility to bring this to your attention so that corrective measures can be taken to prevent future customers from...
Read moreI was very disappointed with my last visit last night. When we got there, there were 2 couple's in front of us and one behind us in line. They only had 1 host who was also the only server. After being seated, she got us our drinks within 5 minutes. She was great. She then took our order shortly after. While waiting for her to take care of the other customers, some employers were fighting in the kitchen. We all heard them fussing each other out and threatening each other. When those employees finally left, the people who were seated after us got their food. I didn't think much of if until tables started leaving and we had been sitting there for 40 minutes with no food. So we continue to wait and the server says that she is sorry and we had heard her even trying to tell the people in the kitchen that we didn't get our food yet. So now an hour has passed and our food finally comes out. I was so upset because now we had to get to go boxes because I had to work in the morning. When the young black manager came out as I had requested, I asked him if there was anything he could do about our bill because it wasn't fair and he told me he would take off my omlette and give us a discounted price and I said great thank you. About 10 minutes later after I had my omlette and pancakes packed up that came with it, and older white manager came out and she told me I couldn't take the omlette home if I wasn't going to pay for it. Even after I had been sitting there for a literal hour and wasn't able to eat my food here because of it. So she took my omlette and pancakes. And before this, I told them that we were paying seprsepara and they never split the bill. So when the bill came out, she ahd given us a 6 dollar discount and I had to pay the whole bill with my card because they didn't split it so I didn't actually save any money. So I thanked the waitress and left her a 5 dollar tip on my card and apologize to her because she has to deal with this woman as her boss. Please get it together ihop because I will not be returning...
Read moreEdit: I've decided to update my review based on my experience with the IHOP support team who followed up with me on my original review.
After my original review, I was contacted by IHOP asking me to use a link they provided to give more information, so I did. Then I received a response saying I would be contacted by someone else for a follow-up. A couple days later I received an email asking for even more information as well as my phone number and was informed the manager of the location I visited would follow up with me.
Several days passed by and then I was contacted by someone who said they were in charge of the Flint Miller Rd store. I never received a phone call as they said I would, just another email. The person said they had recently changed to new management and were correcting previous problems at that location to be better than before (although my problem was after this change). After saying how great they were doing, nothing was done about my experience.
In short, all of this back and forth with them, giving them more information, wasting my time, amounted to nothing more than the proverbial "Sorry About Your Luck". They pretend to care, but only waste your time collecting more information doing nothing about anything. Even a heartfelt apology would have sufficed, but even those "apologies" (excuses really) were clearly surface coating.
I am now going to look for every opportunity I can to let friends and family know that they would be further ahead to simply burn their money instead of going there. At least doing that would save you the inconvenience of driving there and waiting for food that is terrible.
Original review: Our service was great, not sure of young ladies name.
Ordered chocolate pancakes.. they were so dry you could crumble them like biscuits.
Didn't have time to send back, and rarely do that anyways as who knows what will happen in the kitchen.
I've been there four times now, two good experiences, two not good. Probably go somewhere else for chocolate pancakes...
