F. E. Pop's at 5 Points — Restaurant in Florence

Took the family out for Mothers day atmosphere was gorgeous, as a chef the service was a bit hectic of course big day but short staffed from the looks of it one server to take orders, one server handling checkouts, and one flore manager. It seemed out of sink the one server that took our orders looked overwhelmed but held her own did forget a silverware set plus sauce that was requested no biggie more help could have been needed. Food did come one item at a time eggs bacon got cold waffles were warm supper heavy on the granulated sugar as a batter ingredient like a toasted matching size glazed Krispy cream donut you can feel the crunch of the sugar. My wife had the breakfast burrito the floor tortilla + stuffing of the eggs bacon plus cheese ratio was disappointing more starch than protein or vegetables offered cheese was not melted to shows that it reached serving temp. The coffee was amazing best coffee I've had in the area so far as well as beautifully crafted plus presentation. The price in total with tip was really high for only 3 people considering the selected menue items for the price of $80 i personally professionally with respect better presentation, portion, and meal prep is slightly lacking for the price. This place turns into a vegan paradise on Wednesdays! I’ve been several times and tasted a lot of their curries, which have all been extremely flavorful and honestly have surpassed my expectations by a mile each time. I’ve only had 1 meal that was a little “ehhh” and it was a roasted acorn squash - but hey - we love a risk taker! Decided to come today to try this new vegan special and - holy moly - 5,000 stars. Honestly, this is the best vegan menu item I have eaten in the entire 2 years of being vegan in Florence. Perfectly balanced flavors of salty, savory, sweet, herby, a little acid, and just the perfect amount of spice. Great portion size. This was an absolutely excellent dish and I am looking forward to the excitement I’m going to feel the next time I see it pop up on a Wednesday menu.

Also important to mention: the to go containers are always neatly put together and the food...

Cute place. Friendly staff. Lots of seating. Outdoor atmosphere is great. But we waited 45 minutes for our sandwiches. 2 of them were cold sandwiches, 1 was a grilled cheese…basically not food that should be taking anywhere near 45 minutes to be served. And then one arrived with multiple hairs in it. Took another 30 minutes to have that sandwich remade and brought out. Ended up just getting it to go.

I have a feeling this has to be not a norm for them and it seemed like everyone else got their food faster than ours? Server mentioned they didn’t have their normal staff there but man…over an hour for sandwiches was rough.

Still recommend as a nice place to stop but be cautious if you’re passing through on a road trip like we were…only eat here if you can afford adding well over an hour...
