They deserve 4.8 on Google star rating. They diversify their hiring but also have a super awesome front of house. The person that was greeting and giving out food last night was so warm with every single customer. You could tell who the regulars were. The store is super clean. I have OCD and I run restaurant for the past 15 years, so I can hunt out some dirt easy. But you can't see any dirt anywhere. They have these free candies that you can snack on while you wait for your order. Obviously normal people should probably just take one candy but I had to take two because they were so delicious. And the candies are in theme with the restaurant. I ordered for my family. We got to try kimchi for the first time, as well as some mochi. I ordered some coconut shrimp. We also ordered the house salad as well as some of their fried rice. An order of crab rangoon. The kimchi was a little spicy, just the smallest amount, but you could easily eat it it was not overpowering. The mochi, I enjoyed the flavors and the textures but if I could be the happiest girl, I would have liked to have three of the mochi not two for the order. One of my favorite places to visit in Middletown is the hibachi grill. We've moved from Middletown about a year ago. I loved their house salad and I was thinking last night while eating the salad that this is a great salad to make up the Gap in my heart for not having the hibachi I used to. The dressing was delicious and they also add a little bit of fresh avocado slices. The coconut shrimp was insane. I asked the girl before I ordered like are these going to be clean shrimp? The girl reassured me oh yeah it's definitely going to be clean. Not only were they clean, but they were perfectly cooked. The shrimp were tender instead of rubbery. The crunch from the coconut breading was perfect. I could eat a hundred. The crab rangoon was the same way. The texture of the breading was spot on. Most of the time they have too much breading and it's hard to chew but this place got it right. The filling was also delicious. Ever so slightly different but in the best way possible. I felt kind of guilty the first time I had ordered from here because I tried to order orange chicken, the staff was not having it.LOL but they were so kind and polite when they were trying to tell me that that is not exactly a Japanese food. All the food that we have eaten from there is delicious. The prices are fair for the amount of food that you get. I'm looking forward to the next time that I get to eat their food. Which should be soon considering they're right down the...
Read moreI recently ate here while traveling on business. I thought I'd check it out based on the great reviews.
This appears to be a small, family-run operation. The one waitress might have been hired. I'm pretty sure the cook was the dad, and the other lady on site had her daughter there doing homework. I love going to places like this because everyone obviously cares about what they're doing. I also like supporting entrepreneurs who are taking a risk to do what they love.
Anyhow, I had the bento the first night. You got to pick an appetizer, a main item, a roll, etc. It was all very good and reasonably priced. The salmon was particularly good--especially at this price point. I liked it so much I came back again for rainbow and california rolls. Everything was tasty and really nice.
For the sushi fanatics out there, think of this as a more casual option. Everything is fresh and well-prepared, but it sticks to the basics. For families, it's a great place to take picky eaters (e.g. the bento). Overall, there is a pretty extensive menu and all of it is reasonably priced. I will definitely go back when I'm...

I come here almost every week and mentioned to the chef that I remember curry from when I lived in Japan as a child! This isn’t on the menu, but he made it for me today. Incredibly beautiful and just as delicious! Almost made me cry, bringing me back to Japan with my grandfather.
Added: 2023 This review was short and sweet, but I could go on and on about them!!! I have a weekly appointment down the street and I make sure to make it during lunch so I can enjoy their delicious food.
My great niece and nephew (7 and 11 years old) LOVE sushi. They can’t wait to come visit again because of Oishi!! She didn’t want tuna in her roll so he added additional salmon and she LOVED it!!
Trust me, you will not just enjoy your first time, but every one...
