Very cool and funky tavern in Florence. We visited while in the area to see the Pope's Tavern Museum.
It seems to be attached to an arcade type of place. Definitely more of a tavern/bar feel than restaurant feel despite the full menu; menus wait on tables and you go to the bar to order.
The interior decorations are very cool and fun. Lots of funky lights and funny art. There's a wall of fame for beer drinkers wherein their visages are put on top of hot dogs -- very nice. lol. My dad especially had a great time; he loved the music and the atmosphere.
The lighting is a little dim so it's kinda hard to see the menu. Large array of beer and other drink options. The menu mostly has hot dogs, sandwiches, and flatbread pizzas. No fries here -- house made chips with ranch instead.
The bartender was super friendly and patient with us. My parents got a chili cheese dog and smoky slaw dog; I copied my mom with the chili cheese. We all enjoyed our food! The chip serving isn't especially large but the hot dogs are sizable and very tasty. The sesame seed bun was perfectly toasted and stood up nicely to all the toppings. The chili was flavorful and I liked the Cajun spices on the chili cheese dog. That made my very spice-averse mom's nose run but if you're anything but the weeniest of weenies I'm sure you'll be fine! Hahaha. My dad really enjoyed the smoky slaw dog. He and my mom split their dogs so they could have half of each and she wound up liking that one even more than the chili. If I'd paid closer attention to the menu I might've tried the jalapeƱo popper styled dog...if I return in the future, would definitely go there.
Overall, nice, vibey place for a simple but delicious meal. And I'm sure it's an even better watering hole for thirsty students and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWildwood is a great establishment with great service and amazing food. The variety in drinks is amazing and I can never find myself at a lack for a drink I might try. With the Mangoneada that takes me back to my days in California and a Gin fizz that I marvel at seeing it made and appreciate, the list of drinks i favor has only grown more. Having the option to order food there or next door from Chicago Cafe ensures my experience is as good as the next. I've not been fortunate enough to attend a Tap takeover just yet, but I certainly wish to be there for the next one. Even on their busiest nights, the bartenders always have time to make sure my glass is full and any empty dishes are taken back. I'm extremely satisfied with Wildwood and how comfortable and cozy it feels. The addition of the arcade has made it that much better and, quite frankly, I'm afraid I won't leave at all some nights. Many thanks to all of your employees for excellent service and dedication with special mentions to Seth, Nick, Groovy, Hannah for being such great individuals and providing the best experience every night I'm there. I look forward to many great nights to come, whether by myself or with friends, and wonderful food to fill my belly. Thank you all for being a part of the little things I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place was the whole southern experience! So welcoming, warm and an all round wonderful experience. Our bartenders Ellie and Courtney created crafted cocktails that were the most delicious cocktails that they matched/rivaled some of the fanciest establishments weāve ever been to, (and weāre older, so weāve been to a lot of different restaurants in our lives). The prices were a treat as well, made us happy to leave a bigger tip. The atmosphere is exactly what a tavern is, wood everywhere yet with an edgy sense of whimsy. The food is fun, specialty hot dogs served in baskets are their claim of greatness, but we ordered an artisan style pizza, which was made to order with a lovely thin crust and was delicious. But whoever does the hiring of workers has done an exceptional job of finding the best in exhibiting southern hospitality and crafting incredible drinks š¹. I just wish this place could be in my hometown. The patrons were so friendly too, we enjoyed memorable conversations with many. It was a...
