I had a very negative experience today and cannot recommend Angelo’s. I am a local but had not been here before, and I wanted a restaurant near Pelican Bay to visit with a friend who is in town. We wanted outdoor seating and a good selection of dishes, and Angelo’s fit the bill. First, the food was excellent. No problems there. The problems were all with service and mostly the fault of a young adult man we believe may be the owner’s son or kin. We sat outside and he was our waiter. He was generally inconsistent in visiting our table and completely missed seeing other patrons arrive; we watched 2 tables sit down outside, then get up and leave when they were not helped in 10–15 minutes. When we were approaching the end of our meal, my companion had an empty plate but I still had food on my plate, which I was nibbling at. The waiter approached and began clearing our plates without asking if we were done, even dropping a dirty napkin on my food before I realized what he was doing & could stop it. I wasn’t done but he made sure I was. (And no, I did not have my knife or fork in a position to indicate I was finished). Not cool but everyone makes mistakes so I didn’t say anything. Then, my friend paid for our meals in cash and the waiter did not bring her change as she expected. We waited and waited. Finally she found him, and when she asked about it he got agitated & brought her an amount less than what she expected without a clear or understandable reason. My companion was upset at this point because she deduced he had not returned with the change because he assumed it was all for his tip, again without asking first. As my companion got more and more upset at not understanding why she just couldn’t just get her change as requested the waiter lost it, yelling, even threatening when he misunderstood her standing up from the table as an invitation to fight him! (even though she was only heading inside to talk to a manager). Mind you, this is a middle-aged woman he was going to “fight”. Once she was inside figuring things out with the woman at the counter he (mildly) threatened me despite my not having said a word to him at all since ordering. (Something about “being in big trouble something something). He made a scene and really upset other patrons too, even got nasty with several elderly folks who mentioned they are regulars. This was followed by the owner coming outside & trying to blame the waiter’s behavior on “being busy”, which the group wasn’t hearing or accepting as they had seen the exchange. (Definitely seemed like a parent excusing their child’s poor behavior). The waiter also yelled at another older gentleman who had been overlooked and was frustrated about it (and probably because my companion had pointed out that he had missed the patron) and that man left right after ordering because he was so disgusted. It was a complete clusterf**k and I definitely will not be back. Too many great places to eat here to put up with such disrespect, even if it...

11/24/22 Update on previous review. I absolutely LOVE this AMAZING restaurant. Here it was Thanksgiving and I was supposed to go to Miami to spend Thanksgiving with my family. However, I caught a bad cold and didn't want to infect anyone in my family, especially the new born baby. So I was staying home and feeling depressed. I'm not exactly a Turkey freak, but I really do crave it on Thanksgiving. I called around and found two restaurants that were open and had Turkey, one only served prepared Turkey breast, and was quite costly. The other one, Angelo's Southern Grill, offered a choice of either white or dark meat. My wife prefers white and I prefer dark meat. It came with mashed potatoes, stuffing, mixed veggies, cranberry dressing and even Turkey soup. It was all freshly home made and totally delicious. And very reasonably priced. We also added a slice of Pumpkin pie and Bourbon Pecan Pie. Everything was totally FANTASTIC and made with Love. THANK-YOU Angelo's for saving my Thanksgiving and...
Read moreWhat a disappointment! Reviews were good and the menu made us think it was a place we might dine often. It was Wednesday evening around 6:00 and there was only one server, another walked in when we did. We waited a long time before we were able to order. The server came to the table and her whole conversation was “do you know what you want “. I ordered Blackened Grouper and asked if it was black or red grouper. She didn’t know. When it arrived it looked okay. My husband ordered shrimp and grits. When it arrived it was dry shrimp and sausage atop dry grits. We asked the server if there was a broth that goes with it, she asked the kitchen, and we were told “ If they serve it with broth it will make the grits too mushy.” About that time, I realized my fish wasn’t completely cooked so I picked around on it, leaving more than half of it. It was clear that nobody there cared if we enjoyed our food. My husband still left a 20%+ tip even though we had poor service. We will NEVER return...
