We just had our first meal at Beckham's bar and grill, the service was very good and the meal was also well cooked and very tasty. I had the fish and chips for $16.99 and my wife had the house salad for 8.99. However, the portion on both meals was very very small. The fish came with fries and coleslaw. There was only one piece of fish maybe 4 to 6 ounces and that would include the thick layer of beer batter, there were very few fries and the coleslaw might have been a few tablespoons . Now potatoes and cabbage are very cheap ingredients and should be served in larger portions. The salad might have been about a cups worth of lettuce, very few tomatoes and cucumbers and a very small amount of cheese. If I were to guess it might have been a dollars worth of food in that salad. I spent $33.00 and honestly was still hungry when I left. I will not be returning ever , since iv'e no doubt all of there food is not proportioned properly and certainly is not a good value at all. I get fish and chips at many local restaurants and there are usually 2 to 3 pieces of fish and I always have leftovers and usually for less money than i...
Read moreWe had the fish and chips - the lighter portion and the larger portion. There is a $7 difference between the two but only about 3 oz of fish. The fish was obviously frozen and reheated. There was no seasoning on either the fish or the breading. It was poorly reheated with fishy flavors and cold spots. The non-jalapeno tartar sauce was mayonaise with some pepper - no relish, no tang. The 3 tablespoons of cole slaw consisted of cabbage and mayonaise - no seasoning, no tang, not even a peppery bite. We were not asked how our meal was, otherwise we would have indicated our disappointment. This is Sarasota. 10 miles from the ocean. But ive had better cod in Ohio. Perhaps the staff didnt ask because they knew how crappy the fish and chips meal was and didnt want to hear about it again. Other observations we made were the bartender using her unwashed fingers in someone's drink to push down ice cubes and the wait staff using their unwashed fingers on the lemons. Oh, and the Ribeye is pork. Don't come...
Read moreSmall, cozy bar off S Tamiami Trail. We went on a Friday night, and there was a 30-minute wait for regular seating. The bar had open seats so we decided to just order there. I got the stuffed jalapenos, and they came out hot and fresh. Crispy bacon exterior, with a cheesy mozzarella interior. For my main course, I went for the Hawaiian burger, which did not disappoint. It was cooked perfectly to temp with two grilled pineapple wheels, LTO, and bbq sauce on the side. Two thumbs up. My wife got the cheese steak and said it was good but not the best. Both of our main dishes were served with crispy steak fries and a pickle spear. I normally dont like thick cut steak fries because they aren't normally cooked with an exterior crisp, but these were. Service was a bit slow but only because of how busy it was. Service bar drink tickets were printed nonstop, and the bartender did a great job managing wait staff drinks while still tending to her bar guests. Overall, good food...
