Waldo’s Chicken & Beer — Restaurant in Miramar Beach

Update: Me and my family went back to speak with Patrick, who was very kind. We discussed several things that we had observed, and Patrick made things right for us. Patrick also advised that he had already spoken with staff as well. While we were there, several customers came in, so clearly the restaurant has a good following! One customer was a regular. At the end of the day, it may have just been inopportune timing for us to try the food.

This was our first time at the restaurant, and we ordered To-Go. When we walked in, the girl at the counter was obviously not interested in being there, and was low-key rude.

On my order, they forgot to give me my drink and the dipping sauce. All 4 of us ordered chicken tenders, but mine were southern style and theirs were too spicy to eat when they hadn't asked for spicy. The macaroni and cheese had a weird grainy texture too, so it makes me think the cheese sauce is made with a powder.

The food took forever to be done as well. While we were waiting, 4 guys came in and the girl at the counter seemed to ignore them while she continued to look at receipts. Within a few minutes, they left without ordering.

I definitely won't be returning, I hope they can stay...

I’m gonna be honest, I wasn’t expecting much when I walked in the place. Just another chicken joint, right? WRONG. The tenders are actually tenders! Not chicken breast pieces sliced and battered, like the majority of places in town. The service was excellent from everyone but there are a couple key names that stood out for sure, and they are David, Alex, and Bella behind the bar. The guys were very attentive, engaging and humorous, and the firecracker behind the bar who just kept working circles around people, while smiling and radiating joy, was a delight and unexpected surprise, upon just walking into a chicken joint. KUDOS to the staff at Waldo’s for not only choosing fantastic staff to serve their patrons, but also for having fantastic chicken tenders! In fact, we didn’t have a single complaint abt any of the food we received. The atmosphere was amazing, as it’s decorated in genius artwork! Wanted to grab something quick after a day at the beach but didn’t want your typical fast food chain and this place DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! The chicken was so fresh, juicy, and crispy! The batter has so much flavor and everything is made fresh to order! We had the freebird club sandwich and it with pickles added is perfection! All of their homemade sauces we great, too! The onion rings are perfectly battered and crispy! The potato wedges are excellent and seasoned well! The atmosphere is a relaxed vibe and would be a great place to hang out and eat while watching sports. Literally the only 2 tips I have would be to give a more generous serving of the onion rings as you only get 4 (they are large) but a few more would be nice as well as the potato wedges. The serving of fries is large. And that the coleslaw be more juicy. The flavor was great but needs more of the coleslaw dressing. Those are my only two tips!
