Met some friends for dinner here recently. It was Tuesday night and when I walked in, there were people sitting waiting for a table... It was busy, but not crowded. I put my name in for a table for 4. The hostess replied, "It is going to be about 30-40 minutes." I literally counted 4 empty tables near the front of the restaurant. When I asked about those, she replied, "Oh, we are out of menus."
I proceeded to the bar to grab a drink on happy hour, and the bartender took forever to come over. When he finally did, I asked if they had any BJ's seasonal beers on tap. The first one he mentioned I ordered. It wasn't a pint, and wasn't on happy hour. Apparently the sign that says. "$4" is only for their core beers. He didn't tell me that nor did the sign say that. When I questioned it, he got an attitude about it. Just then my friends arrived and I asked him to transfer the tab to my table. "We can't do that." Pretty sure that is an easy thing to do... So I was forced to cash out. When I questioned that, he replied, "This is the restaurant business. We can't do that." Pretty sure every other restaurant on the planet can do that. Whatever.
We sat down and eventually got service. Our waiter was decent. Lady across from me ordered a glass of wine. When it was delivered, the waiter explained the restaurant was of wine glasses and brought her a snifter. Out of menus... Out of wine glasses... Empty tables. Interesting. Then, when the food finally arrived, her steak was overcooked and cold. Her husband's pasta was also cold. When the manager finally came over, she apologized and offered to make a new steak. At least my salad was good.
In the end, it was not a very good experience. Based on this experience, I will not recommend BJ's nor will I be returning. I sent BJ's a direct message on Twitter, but have not heard back. At this point, I don't expect to. There are plenty of other great placed near here you can visit. World of Beer is just around the corner. Go there instead. Better beer...
Read moreThis place is truly unbelievable, but in the worst way possible! We placed a delivery order a few weeks if not a month or so ago, as the family deals seemed like a good opportunity to try this restaurant for the first time. My family and I chose delivery for 5:30 pm. Around 6 pm, we called the driver to check the status. He informed us the restaurant kept telling him the order was not ready and advised that we call them directly. After failed attempts to reach the restaurant, the first driver left. The restaurant claimed the driver had supposedly left because he'd parked at a handicap spot and an officer had advised him to leave, so it was apparently not their fault. Fair enough, but that was a minimum of a 30 minute window where the restaurant did not have my food ready. The supervisor claimed the food was almost ready, but that due to the delay with the driver, they had to remake a pizza.
Enter driver number two, who was very apologetic for the delay, when clearly it was the restaurant at fault. After expressing my frustration to the manager for their horrendous service, she offered to send me an egift card within 24 hours. Here I am at least a month later and no gift card. I've let it go, since I do not intend to give the restaurant my business in the future anyway.
The horrendous experience ended with my family and I eating just after 7. Even then, the restaurant sent us the wrong food (we had ordered the wings deal and recieved no wings). Our experience was a total disaster and the restaurant's complete incompetence left us disappointed. Quality wise, I'd rate the food below average bar food. The pizza was edible and that's about it.
This is the first time I've had the "if i could give them zero stars i would" feeling about any restaurant. Putting up with bad food and getting my order wrong is one thing. But mediocre service and the restaurant's refusal to accept that they screwed up is another. What a complete disrespect to...
Read moreThis is the first restaurant where we received excellent service, deliciously and perfectly prepared food, and great selection of tasty drinks for the 5 years we've lived in the area. We had all but given up hope of having a decent meal out with good service, good food and clean surroundings. Chelsea B was our server and she was EXCELLENT! Right on the ball, very friendly and extremely knowledgeable on not only the different dishes offered but also on all the beers and non alcoholic brews. Kudos to BJ's for finding this star. Our food was wonderful. I had the Cherry Chipotle Salmon with a bowl of the cheddar broccoli soup and mashed potatoes. Every thing was delicious. I don't usually care for anything spicy but Chelsea assured me that the cherry chipotle was more sweet than spicy and she was correct. Hubby had the Smokehouse Burger and fries. The sandwich was so huge that he had to take more than half home. He thoroughly enjoyed all he ate! I had visited the BJ's in Greenwood Indiana about 2 weeks prior and had the double bone pork chop. OH, MY, GOSH!!! Incredible!!! The pork chops are only served after 4pm and maybe on Sat/Sundays all day. (not sure). This chop was so huge! It was about 2.5" thick and the tenderloin was probably 5" X 4" easy. I'd already eaten the wedge salad with blue cheese and bacon and a bowl of the cheddar broccoli soup so when my chop arrived, I could only eat a few bites of it. I took it with me for later and it was just as delicious warmed up. After that, I knew I had to find a BJ's close to our home to take my husband. I'm hard to impress and I have been impressed twice by two different locations of this brewhouse/restaurant. We've finally found a competent, and new favorite eating establishment that we'll frequent ourselves, but, also we'll be happy to take my company out to when they...
