Terrible food, service, and conditions are now available at Cheng's Chinese Restaurant. We have been going there for many years. The food has been deteriorating the past few times we have been there. Each time my wife had to explain that she wants sliced chicken instead of chicken scraps in her Chicken and Broccoli. This time they did not even get that right. It was so inedible, she could not finish. My lemon chicken was overcooked, hard, and tough. I also could not finish it.
I had a hard time swallowing the food. I kept waiting for it to go down. Finally, I had to go to the restroom to vomit my meal. The rest room was disgustingly dirty and run down. The rest of the place has deteriorated as well. We expressed all these complaints to the server. She did not understand what we were saying. She went to the manager, and came back after a while. She said they could not discount the cost of the meal or replace it. We requested the manager come to us. All the manager did was argue with us, and expressed how she does not understand what we are saying. They do not appear to understand English, and are devoid of customer service skills. They had never even visited us at the table to ask how things were.
We did not ask to bring the food home. We usually do not leave food at a restaurant. In fact, I am very tolerant of food, and usually eat all that is served to me. I find it a sin to waste food. The food there used to be good. We plan never to go...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. We decided to try Cheng’s for the first time today after it was recommended to us by someone we know. We ordered krab rangoon, sesame chicken and honey chicken. The Krab Rangoon was cold and gummy as if it had been reheated along with BOTH chicken dishes. The honey chicken was stuck together and cold as if it was taken out of the fridge and reheated. The sesame chicken was a little better but after 2 pieces I immediately began to feel my stomach turn. We brought the food back to the restaurant and explained our concerns in a professional manner only to be told “it’s not our fault if you did not like it”. I thoroughly explained to the woman “helping” us that the chicken was not properly cooked and tasted old. She was incredibly dismissive and rude and refused to even try and rectify the situation by either having the food remade or refunding us. She was belittling in the manner she spoke to us by saying that because there was sauce the chicken would not be crispy. I have eaten at MANY Chinese restaurants in my life and know what to expect. I told her this tasted like reheated leftovers. She asked us if it was our first time and we replied yes. She stated that she has never received any complaints and was again very defensive and disrespectful. As a business owner myself I would never treat first time customers or any customers in this manner. I cannot in good faith ever recommend this...
Read moreReally amazing taste, portion size and service! Sunday date with my daughter and granddaughter is very important for us. We have had no luck finding good Chinese food near her house in Sanford so we took a chance and found Cheng's online and decided to give it a try. I had the Shrimp in Garlic Sauce and my daughter had the Beef in Garlic Sauce. We had the dinner specials w/ egg roll and soup, she had the wonton and I had the hot and sour. I like my food a bit spicy, enough to light up your mouth but still be full of flavor, that's exactly what I got, rich, full flavor, creamy garlic sauce and lots of large shrimp, not overcooked at all, and vegetables. The hot and sour soup was possibly the best I have had in Florida, anywhere, and I will go back and order a large bowl of it next time! I judge every Chinese restaurant by their hot and sour soup and pork in garlic sauce. Her beef was tender, not chewy and had that same amazing garlic sauce. They came with pork fried rice, it, too, was amazingly good, fluffy, perfectly cooked and my 18 month old granddaughter gave it two thumbs up, again and again, as she spilled it on the carpeted floors, LOL Love that kid! I can't wait for another trip to Cheng's Chinese for...
