Absolutely fantastic Polish and traditional baked goods.
I've wanted to drop by for a while now and I must say I wasn't disappointed! I've never had Polish pastries before so of course I had to try a few of everything.
The Paczki( (of which I purchased way too few) were similar to doughnuts. The kind I got were filled with plum and were so tender, I didn't bother to share with anyone. Not exactly like a doughnut in texture but springier with a pleasant earthiness. Remember when you were a kid and could eat half a dozen doughnuts yourself? This is that, but with Paczki.
I took a box of the angel wings, Chrusciki home and promptly finished them by evening the next day. These were incredibly buttery with a nuttiness to them that goes perfectly with coffee, tea or some hot cocoa.
I also grabbed a square of Tiramisu that everyone within my immediate range enjoyed immensely. They don't skimp here on these pastries, you get a monolithic "half" or a slab and its fantastic out of the fridge for about a week (a guess) if you plan on having it last that long.
I brought back friends so I could not feel guilty for buying strawberry cheesecake on top of what I purchased not ten minutes prior. If anything would make me give this place 5 stars alone, it would be that cheesecake. Incredibly rich, but not 'heavy' and that's where the danger is. If you don't have friends, walk around with one of these slabs of heaven.
I'm going to eventually try everything, however I think my absolute favorite so far is their Danish. The cheese is bright and fresh and pairs with the rich dough. Grab a few, don't make the same mistake I did and have to drive back that same afternoon while you pretend you're not going to eat them by yourself later. On...
Read moreEva's Bakery got 1 star from us for being open. The remaining 4 stars were very quickly unnecessary! Ignore the photos and menu on their website! The cases were empty, with the exception of stale Rugala, a tray of Angel Wings (with only the very top layer dusted with powdered sugar), a very close to stale Honey Ginger layer cake. And forget about the menu items! A freezer with various types of Perogis was it! Who knows how long they've been there! The worst part of our visit was being unceremoniously greeted by a seemingly angry Polish woman who, when I was making our purchase with my debit card asked, "Don't you have any cash? I don't want to have to pay for that!" OUR FIRST, LAST,...
Read moreOk, so being Polish-American I can tell you that those Danishes I buy almost on a daily basis are as authentic as they can get. That's what a Danish should look like. I get the blueberry-cheese for $1.50. You just can't get a better deal anywhere else. Publix if ever they could bake something this good would charge you $4.95, 😉. I wish Eva would bake some more traditional Cheese-Crumble--BearClaw-Danish style--Rings, that looks like a round cake. I can't even name it but there's so many different cakes but happy, very happy with what I can get. I honestly miss it when they ate closed on Monday because can't buy my pastry...
